Career• After graduating, joined shell and held a number of operational and

commercial roles including Upstream and Downstream activities.

• In January 2005, Ben became Vice President of Manufacturing Excellence, based in Houston, USA.

• In December 2006, appointed Executive Vice President of Chemicals

based in London, UK.

• From January to September 2013, as a Downstream Director and had regional responsibility for Europe and Turkey.

• Member of the Executive Committee since January 2013. In july 2013 appointed as CEO of Royal Dutch Shell.

Achievements • Responsible for standards in operational excellence and high-

performance initiatives in refining and chemicals manufacturing, turns loss making petrochemical operations into a highly profitable.

• Improved financial performance, including restructuring in some areas of the company.

• Enhancing capital efficiency, with hard choices on new projects, reduced growth investment, and more asset sales.

• Continued strong delivery of new projects, and integration of recent acquisitions.

Challenges to face

• According to International Energy Agency global energy demand will continue to raise, Meeting that demand will be a massive challenge.

• Demand growth will be particularly strong in emerging economies like China and India.

• Responding to climate change, finding ways to use greener sources of energy to demand is most challenging.
