***** “I want to have a dragon!” Anej complained. “But, dear-” his mother, Cheriso tried to explain. “No, ‘but dears’, Mom! We have a place for one, the food for it, and I’m responsible enough!” Anej yelled. “I already said no, Anej,” Cheriso said firmly. Anej walked out of the room, not saying anything more.Anej trod up to his room on the third floor. He was a prince, and he would eventually become king of the land of Derilay. He began to pack a backpack with some clothes, food and drinks. He wanted a dragon, and he always got what he wanted. Or so he thought. He was familiar with the area around him, but not with the area in which he was going to go into.

That night, Anej snuck out of the back door on the first floor of the castle and ran to the edge of his home. He turned around to take one final look at the castle. He knew his mother and father would worry and send out spies and search teams. He looked back into the woods in which he would travel into. Anej knew the land in which most dragons were and came from, which was the land of Ichod. Anej stopped at a nearby tree stump to eat his dinner. He had packed some macaroni salad and cornbread. “Yum!” he said, “This looks delicious!” He ate a couple bites of the salad, then took out a bottle of water and took a sip. He fell asleep shortly after he ate.

Anej awoke to a dark blue and purple creature. “AAAHHH!!” he screamed. The creature leaped back. Anej looked at the creature closer, and then realized: IT WAS A DRAGON!!! He had seen Kilena, Jebell’s daughter. He cautiously and slowly walked up to her and tried to pet her. Kilena let him pet her. “Can you talk?” he asked Kilena. She shook her head as if to tell him, "No, not yet.” Anej smiled, for he knew this would be his dragon.

Years and years passed. Anej and Kilena both became stronger and braver together. Many times they had to run away from Cheriso’s guards and spies, for they just wanted to separate Anej and Kilena. Anej would not let that happen, for the bond between the two was just too strong.

Anej fought many battles with Anej fought many battles with Kilena, but this is the one most Kilena, but this is the one most revered in the land of Derilay: revered in the land of Derilay: “You will not overcome us you evil “You will not overcome us you evil rat!” Anej said, slashing his sword rat!” Anej said, slashing his sword toward Jiukil, an evil warlord. “Yes, toward Jiukil, an evil warlord. “Yes, my minions and I surely will!” my minions and I surely will!” Jiukil leapt forward and stabbed Jiukil leapt forward and stabbed Anej in the arm. But Kilena healed Anej in the arm. But Kilena healed him with her magic powers. “See him with her magic powers. “See we’re unstoppable!!” Anej we’re unstoppable!!” Anej exclaimed. He stabbed Jiukil right exclaimed. He stabbed Jiukil right in the heart, and he stumbled. in the heart, and he stumbled. Jiukil fell off his dragon, Ribnin, Jiukil fell off his dragon, Ribnin, and went tumbling towards the and went tumbling towards the earth. Anej rubbed his trusty earth. *****A couple of more years passed, and Anej was now thirty-four. He was old enough to become king of Derilay. “Come, Kilena! We must return to Derilay so I can find a wife and become king.” Kilena was now able to talk, “Yes, my master.” She looked back at her home land of Ichod. She would miss it very much, but she knew she had to follow Anej. Kilena sprang off the ground and started to fly towards the large castle in the distance.

About five hours passed, and then Kilena landed in front of the large Ichodian castle in which he and she would live. “Mother, I’m home!” Anej wailed as he opened the large castle door. “Oh, Anej!” Cheriso said, running up and hugging her son, ”I’ve missed you so much! We have found someone that would make a great wife for you!” “That’s great mother! A queen for the king of Derilay! But, before I get married, I need to introduce you to my new friend, Kilena.” Kilena trod into the castle. Cheriso let out a sigh, “I suppose I can’t stop you now that you are going to become king.” Anej’s face lit up with a smile.
