ROVANIEMI TRAVEL KEY FIGURES

Registered overnight stays increased 18 percent inRovaniemiIn December 2017, 114,000 overnight stays were registered in Rovaniemi, of which Finnsaccounted for 13,100 (+3 %) and foreign residents 101,000 (+20 %). In total, overnight staysincreased 18 percent compared to december last year. The highest number of foreign visitors inRovaniemi was for British: 22,100 overnight stays.

Between Jan-december this year, the number of registered overnight stayes for domestic visitors inRovaniemi was 216,000 (-4 %) and 415,000 (+26 %) for those by foreign visitors, in total 631,000(+14 %) overnight stays so far.

Market share 6.9 per centIn Finland, the number of registered overnight stays was 1.67 million (+9 %), of which Finnishresidents accounted for 941,000 (+9 %). 724,000 (+10 %) were registered for those living abroad.Rovaniemi´s market share of all overnight stays in Finland was 6.9 % (+1 percentage points), ofovernight stays by Finnish residents 1.4 % and those by foreigners 14.0 %. When it comes tomarket share in Lapland, Rovaniemi ´s market share of all overnight stays in Lapland was 24.5 %(+2 percentage points), of overnight stays by Finnish residents 13.8 % and those by foreigners27.3 %.

In comparison with overnight stays in December, Rovaniemi was number two among Finnishtourism areas.

Of overnight stays in December, 102,000 (+14 %) were for leisure time travellers and 12,300(+61 %) for business travellers.

In December, Finnish residents stayed in registered accomodation facilities in Rovaniemi 1.7overnight stays (+0.1 overnight stays) and foreigners 2.2 overnight stays on average (-0.2overnight stays).

Accomodation facilities received 54,000 travellersArrivals in Rovaniemi registered accomodation facilities increased 27 percent compared to thesame month last year. Of the travellers who stayed overnight, 14.0 % were Finnish residents and86.0 % foreigners.

67,400 flight passengers arrivalsRovaniemi Airport received 67,400 passengers, of which 54.9 % came with direct flights fromabroad and 45.1 % with domestic flights. Foreign travelers also arrive with domestic flights viaHelsinki Airport. In total, the arrivals increased 16 percent.
