Pastor’s Corner
Easter is the day we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. In reality the day of Easter is more than just a one time event. Easter Sunday launches a season of Sundays in which we are to reflect what the Resurrection means. This Easter season will be here until Pentecost Sunday, which will fall on May 20th this year. As we travel through the weeks after Easter Sunday, may we ask ourselves, “How does the Resurrection change my life?”
The truth is that the resurrection of Christ needs to make a big difference in our lives or Easter becomes simply something we do to remember and nothing more. Remembering needs to lead to real transformation. Join us each week as we move from the tomb out into the world around us.
Blessings, Derik
Notes From Susie– “Come Walk with Me” is more than a beautiful cantata written by Pepper Choplin. It is an invitation to remember that week—that week of suffering and pain. I want to thank the Sanctuary Choir, Becky Cash, Ric Woerner, Don Jordan, Jay Himes and all of the narrators: Helen Hardy, Linda Cole, John Frichtel, J.R. Swisher, Andrew Childress, Derik Hamby and Scott Swisher for the way they presented the cantata. Everyone did their part and I am so grateful. Even though the songs have been sung and the words have been read, the message is the same…Christ is risen…Christ is risen indeed! The way Christ lives is through His body the Church! We must continue to journey with Christ into a world that needs to feel that all-powerful love!
Blessings,
Susie
