TheMarine Executive Association will host a

nationwide Virtual Job Fair, in conjunction with Corporate

Gray, and Brazen Careerists focused onMarines

transitioning after their first tour, during July 2012.

This Virtual Job Fair is for Marines only, and is

targeted to transitioningMarines completing their

first tour. More than 60 invitations have been sent to

companies that have job locations across the country,

so we can identify jobs withMarines returning to their

hometown.

We have had a couple of employers decline, others

are moving money to participate in this event and will be

online, soon.

There is no cost for theMarine to participate. We

continue to look for employers who have jobs in multiple

locations and value the experience of our Marines. We

have invited:

- Two railroads

- Six cross country trucking companies

- Three health providers

- Major sales and distribution companies including Home

Depot, WalMart, Target, Amazon

- Major manufacturing companies, including: General

Electric, AMGeneral, Cummins Diesel, McKesson,

Boeing, OshKosh, Verizon, Microsoft, Northrop

Grumman, General Dynamics - Information Technology,

LockheedMartin

- Financial industry companies including: JPMorgan

Chase, Capital One, American Express

ForMarines here is what we have set up:

Virtual Job Fair July 18-19.

Day one - 18th - will be for job seekers east of the

Mississippi.

Day two - 19th - will be for job seekers west of the

Mississippi.

At login, Marines will be taken to the virtual lobby

where they sign up to participate, at no cost. The lobby

will identify the companies by name or logo. Marines can

review the companies early, apply for a job, upload their

resume, and request additional information or an online

chat, and will be notified as additional companies sign up.

The Company Booth will describe:

- Company description and business objectives

- Company benefits

- Company history, objectives, and additional info the

company wants a candidate to see.

- A resume drop box (linked to the company POC)

- Jobs openings with link to apply online

- We have invited two schools that specialize in distance

learning so theMarine can increase their education and

technical skills while working for the company.

On Job Fair day July 18-19, a company representative

will have the ability to do an online chat with the

candidate, Marines sign up at the company booth.

Marines from 1st Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, participate in the Larch-

mont Memorial Day parade, May 24, as part of Fleet Week New York 2012.

Fleet Week has been New Yorks celebration of the sea services since 1984.

It is an unparalleled opportunity for citizens of New York and the surround-

ing tri-state area to meet sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen, as well as

see, firsthand, the latest capabilities of todays maritime services.

ing Marine Day in Times

Square, May 26.

Were here to show

the public what were all

about, said Master Gun-

nery Sgt. Larry DeYott, se-

nior enlisted advisor at the

Marine Corps Warfighting

Laboratory. The people

want to know what the Ma-

rine Corps is doing to fight

wars and save lives.

In one section of the

event, Marines showcased

various weapons the Ma-

rine Corps uses. Patrons

were able to hold weapons

such as the M16 assault ri-

fle, MK-19 automatic gre-

nade launcher and M249

squad automatic weapon.

The people love getting

to hold the weapons, said

Cpl. Jordan Saini, infan-

tryman, 1st Battalion, 9th

Marine Regiment, who as-

sisted people with various

weapons. Kids especially

like to check them out. For

them, its like having their

toys come to life. Because

what kid didnt want to do

this when they grew up?

Marines also conduct-

ed Marine Corps Martial

Arts Program demonstra-

tions where Marines would

grapple and show the audi-

ence some of their fighting

techniques.

The MCMAP demon-

strations are very popular,

said Cpl. Kyle R. Reyes,

infantryman, 1st Bn., 9th

Marines, who performed

martial arts demonstra-

tions during the event.

My favorite part of the

demonstrations was when

I got so show a bunch of

little kids how to do a hip-

throw.

Next to the MCMAP

demonstrations was a pull-

up challenge where people

could attempt to do 20

pull-ups. Though many

people didnt get the full

20, the ones who did were

awarded free Marine Corps

T-shirts.

Across the street were

static displays of various

military vehicles like the

High Mobility Multipur-

pose Wheeled Vehicle or

the Humvee and Shrike

unmanned aerial vehicle.

Marines helped people

inside some of the vehicles

and showed them how they

work.

People are really inter-

ested in all our high-tech

equipment, said Cpl. Aar-

on Martinez, logistics chief

with the Marine Corps

Warfighting Laboratory. A

lot of this stuff most peo-

ple never get the chance to

see.

Overall, hundreds of

people had the opportunity

to get to know more about

the Marine Corps, and the

Marines got to know a lit-

tle more about what makes

New York tick.
