YEAR 13 LEAVERS DINNER

The Annual RLHS Year 13 Leavers Dinner will be held this year at the Rydges Hotel, Fenton Street on Thursday 6

December 2018. Parents and family are invited to attend. The evening will begin with drinks and a buffet meal,

followed by a celebration of the achievements of all Year 13 students.

This is a semi-formal occasion. A very tidy standard of dress is required (e.g. no jeans, t-shirts, jandals etc) and appropriate behavior is expected – no whistling, calling out etc.

Students attending are under our normal school rules including no smoking and no alcohol. The only concession to these rules is those students who are with their parents or caregivers may have alcohol with their meal if purchased by their parents and are of legal age. No intoxicated persons will be admitted to the function.

The school regards this dinner as a family celebration. Students must be accompanied by their parents/caregivers and are unable to purchase individual tickets for themselves. It is possible for students to be accompanied by another Lakes High student6’s parent/caregiver but permission must be sought and

approved before such a ticket can be bought. See Ms Howard. Names of all persons attending must be listed on the return section of this form. Current students of RLHS

who are not Year 13 may not attend. Doors open 7 pm, seated for dinner 7.30 pm.

Tickets are on sale from the school at student reception at a cost of $55 per person and must be shown at the door upon entry. Tickets cannot be charged to student accounts. Tickets must be purchased before

27 November 2018. For any other questions please contact Ms Howard [email protected]

This weekend, one of our year 13 students Zach Sefuiva, will be competing in the

biggest event so far in his riding career. A huge achievement for Zach, as this is his

first major event in two years whilst recovering from an accident. The 'Husqvarna

Hard Adventure Enduro' Motorbike race will start with a highly technically difficult

Prologue obstacle course to determine start times for the main 2 days of racing. This

will include obstacles such as large logs, tyres, skip rubbish bins, rocks and more!

There are also two days of grueling riding where not all contestants are expected to

make it to the finish. Riders will follow a course that is loaded into their handlebar-

mounted GPS daily - this course will take them over about 300km of hard adventure

trail and tracks through bush between Putaruru and Taupo. Section names hint at

what lies ahead: 'Parachute Drop Up', 'Log Jam', 'Keep your lunch down', 'Rock

Guarden', 'Last Climb', and 'The Big Down'. There is even a flying fox which will take

bikes over one of the river crossings! An indication of just how hard the ride is.

Contestants are to carry 'Survival Equipment' including fire extinguishers, first aid kit,

survival blanket, and cell phone. We wish you all the best Zach!
