President Norm: welcomed all members and the following guests. Assistant Governor Patricia Canning from the Rotary Club of Ballajura, Patricia is just about to become District Governor Nominee, 2 partners Alana and Sue, Ray Perkins introduced Ewan McAllister from Tracwest, Induction for Ewan is for the 9th June. Phil Cousins welcomed back from Holland Brechje Glass and her partner Robert of nine years. Brechje was a past inbound Exchange Student with the Wanneroo Rotary Club.

Reports: Debbie is in Bangkok at present waiting to meet with the Wheel Chairs For Kids Consignment.

Phil Cousins: We sponsor the Kingsway Integrated Football side and there is a game playing this Saturday and in 2 weeks time on the 7th June the State Amateurs from South Australia are coming over to play the West Australian Amateurs at Kingsway which will be under lights. The precursor for that game will be a game against our KIngsway Integrated Football Side and Phil was thinking that it would be great if we can get a few Rotarians down there as the game will be starting at about 4.00pm in the afternoon as a curtain raiser to the main game. Phil asked if anyone would be interested in attending wearing our shirts. The players will be flying the colours of our Rotary Club wearing our jumpers that we have donated. Remember the 7th June. Phil asked for some commitments from the members. Ray was asked if we could get some photos on the day.

Owen Douglas: had nothing to report but passed the baton to Akin to give a talk.

Akin welcomed everyone and said that his weekend was very busy. He attended a mosque to pray for the Turkish miners that died in the mining accident in Turkey. He said he was very sad about that. On Saturday he spent with his friends which was good and on Sunday he had a picnic in Kings Park with President Norms Family which was great. The previous night he was able to play guitar with Norms son playing on piano in a lounge in Mt Lawley. It was very good and it was a great experience. At his next presentation with the club he will play the bagpipes for everyone.

Peter Miskelly: we will be having a meeting at Belgrade Village where we will be having an information evening and a meal with a few of the residents, Lord Mayor of Wanneroo and guests. More details will be announced later but keep the 18th August in mind.

Anson is still missing in action on the Northwest Safari which is going well at this time apart from one injury, one person had to be taken to Tom Price hospital after falling down the Gorge. Her ego was hurt more than injury especially as it was Trsih Lynch from the Karrinyup Rotary Club.

The Hillarys club had interviewed 3 Exchange Students who all cam from this area and one was recommended to us and Norm paid the family a visit. Norm spent an hour and a half with the girl and her parents and had a wonderful time. She will be a great ambassador for the club overseas. Her mother is a High School teacher and her father is an Accountant. Very pleasant to speak to and very interested in Rotary, they also signed an agreement to assist in the roster-ing for the hosting of the inbound student for that one going out. The boy coming in is coming from Sweden. He is a very keen fisherman and he has asked specifically to bring his Rod over. Peter Miskelly would have been a good host father but he has already been looking after An-son so he needs a break. 9 Months of his hosting has been arranged so far.

Ray Perkins mentioned that on the 20th of June it is Purple Bra Day and will be providing a list next week for members to enter their names for certain times for the day. It is a great cause and we have a good laugh with the guys getting sympathy donations for being so attired. The new members will look very fetching.

Paul Conti's Night. Phil Cousins reported on what a good evening had by all that attended. The bottle did not last very long.

Phil also thanked all of the members involved in the Bowel Scan collections. Another good Rotary program.

Clive Bain: The Dolphin Race. We have had a donation from the Malaysian Government of a holiday with 2 plane fares and accommodation to Kuala Lumpur. We also received some tickets to the Luewin Concert via Jeff Trudgian.

Raffle Winners: First Prize; Ray Perkins Second Prize; Patricia Canning

Phil Cousins: Sergeant Session: Raffle Winners; Ray and Patricia, the missing $5.00 ended up as a fine, Akin for his birthday on the 27th (He Will be 18), Clive for forgetting the sausages at Paul Conti's, also Clive had 2 left foot gym shoes when he went to the health club, Colin Griffiths for burning the Kranski sausages, also for stoking up the fire, absolute pyromaniac lol, well done the Dockers and West Perth, also not forgetting the petrol heads at Wanneroo, Rebecca for being on holiday, Ray for buying a new truck to do slashing and fire-break work in competition with Malcolm, Bill for printing some things in error, some names were incorrect. No cross fines.

President Norm introduced Brechje Glass from the Netherlands was our inbound student in 2003 - 2004.

Brechje thanked Norm for the introduction and said good evening to everyone and thanked us for allowing her to talk to us this evening. She said it was hard to believe that 10 years has gone by and when she thinks back pleasant memories come to her mind, particularly BBQ, BBQ and BBQ. BBQ. Thanks to my host families that made me extremely welcome that allowed me to experience the real Australian life. She really enjoyed being with 4 host families which gave me the opportunity to see family life from different perspectives. The learning experience of being away from your own safe well known environment at home has not been easy for me but it has helped me to grow emotionally and socially enormously. My exchange year was definitely a year of many highlights, Wildflower camping with Phil and Kerry, Celebrating Xmas with Bill and Sue, travelling with the Youth Exchange Students up North, School Camp at Rottnest Island, the Capricorn Ramble its all been amazing with thanks to the Rotary Club of Wanneroo.

When I returned to the Netherlands I had some bad news as my father was diagnosed with cancer so she spent some time with her family supporting them in their time of need. She started University in Business Administration and Communication where she met Robert and we have been together

now for nine years. Robert is truly the most nicest and beautiful person I have met. I currently work at a Market Research Company as a research assistant and I really love my job and I hope to get an International Trip in future so if you know of any job openings Down Under please let me know. In November 2013 I received bad news again as my fathers cancer came back and it spread throughout his body and he is currently on Chemo Therapy and it is hard times for the family and we try to enjoy the moment we still have together. She also worked in Brussels for 6 months in the European Commission which was a really good time. I am also happy that my parents visited Australia and they saw the Australian Life and now know what an Australian BBQ is. She is very thankful that she had the chance to go on exchange it has been an amazing and a rewarding period. I cannot thank you enough, thanks Rotary Club of Wanneroo and please let me know if you are nearby Amsterdam I will show you how to ride a bike.

They are one week in Perth and then of to Broome followed by the Gibb River road and then fly from Darwin back to Amsterdam. President Norm asked Brechje how her family received her back after her exchange period, if they found she had changed in any way. Brechje said that they were pleased to have her home and was pleased with her more confident manner.

President Norm wished Brechje and her partner Robert all the best and hoped that they enjoy the rest of their holiday in Australia.

President Norm closed the meeting with the singing of our National Anthem.
