President’s ReportLast week we had the opportunity to present the proceeds ofour Christmas raffle to the representative s the CFA brigadesfrom Wandin, Seville, Coldstream and Gruyere. It was a goodopportunity to hear a bit about the different units and the chal-lengers with their fund raising, The common theme was, whatis supplied as “standard” issue is lacking when it comes to whatis needed at the front line. Thanks Les for making the presenta-tions.

It was decided that the Club would donation $2,000 to helpwith the call for support for Fiji. The money will be channelledthrough RAWCS. Should anyone wish to individually contrib-ute, all donations through RAWCS may be tax deductable. The Beer & Cider festival is progressing well. At the time ofthe meeting there were 19 Beer/Cider vendors and 13 Foodvendors paid. This is changing almost daily. Their registrationfees along with pre sales of tickets has put us in a position thatthe Festival will in a position to pay all upfront costs as theyoccur without requesting any working capital. As a point of in-terest we will have more beer/cider vendors that the BallaratBeer festival, which has been running for quite a few years. Al-so, we have pre sold more tickets than the recent Rochford Porkand Cider Festival.

This Wednesday (16th) at the Wandin Car show we will behanding out flyers for the Beer & Cider festival. This will be agreat opportunity to further expose our event to a differentgroup. We will need help for an hour or two from about 5.00 –5.30. The idea is to hand the flyers to people as they comethrough the gate.

There will be no formal meeting on the 17th March, howeverLes has organised a social evening at the Chinese Restaurant inWandin. Please let Les know by Wednesday evening if you andyour partner will be attending.

On the24th March our speaker will be Dorice from the school ofSt Jude in Tanzania. Please see their website http://www.schoolofstjude.org/about-us/our-history.html for more in-formation. It should be a very interesting presentation and willbe a partner’s night.

Please advise Tony well in advance if you will be accompa-nied by your partner.

Once again a great effort by Sergeant Les, $135

Qantas Airlines: Repair DivisionIn case you need a laugh:Remember, it takes a college degree to fly a planebut only a high school diploma to fix one.

After every flight, Qantas pilots fill out a form, called a'Gripe Sheet' which tells mechanics about problemswith the aircraft. The mechanics correct the problems; document theirrepairs on the form, and then pilots review the GripeSheets before the next flight.

Never let it be said that ground crews lack a sense ofhumour. Here are some actual maintenance complaints sub-mitted by Qantas' pilots (marked with a P) and thesolutions recorded (marked with an S)by maintenance engineers.

P: Left inside main tyre almost needs replacement.S: Almost replaced left inside main tyre.

One of the things I dislike about cremation is theabsence of wonderful verses on tomb-stones. Such as these..............

Harry Edsel Smith of Albany , New York :Born 1903–Died 1942.

Looked up the elevator shaft to see if thecar was on the way down. It was.

In a Ribbesford, England , cemetery:Anna Wallace

The children of Israel wanted bread,And the Lord sent them manna.

Clark Wallace wanted a wife,And the Devil sent him Anna.
