We don’t usually have a Bulletin the week of a public holiday when we have no meeting, but felt that with the Quiz Night next Friday and our Goldfields Giants evening before our next meeting, it was important to keep you all up to date.

BATTLE OF THE BRAINS QUIZ NIGHT - FRIDAY 5 JUNE

Set up Thursday night at the Blue Spec Room from 5.30pm. We hope to see as many as possible so we can set up the room for our great night.

Ticket sales are steady so keep promoting to your friends, workmates and neighbours. Let’s fill the Blue Spec Room to capacity!

We have some very generous businesses in our community who have supported us with some wonderful prizes. I sent out individuals emails to members this morning so they could follow upon the businesses they have approached. We need to ensure that we do follow up with the businesses we have approached. There can never be too many prizes!

Don’t forget when you are talking about the Quiz Night to mention who the beneficiaries will be:

Kalgoorlie Radio Lollipop

Goldfields Women’s Refuge

Leeuwin Ocean Adventure Foundation (to fund a young person from Kalgoorlie-Boulder to undertake one of their voyages).

Arrival time on the night will need to be from 5.30pm. Our guests will start arriving from 6pm and we need to be ready for them. I know we will all bog in and help where needed, but we need to know who is going to be doing what initially and be ready. If you could wear your club shirts it will make it easier for our guests to be able to identify us.

Speaking of shirts, I placed the order yesterday, so fingers crossed they arrive for the night.

GOLDFIELDS GIANTS

Saturday night is the night we are going to cheer for the Giants. John has asked if we could arrive by 5.30pm ready for the meal. We will eat with the sponsors and then move to the viewing area. This will be easily identified as our tear drop banners will be on show.

ST JUDE’S SCHOOL TANZANIA

From President Esther ...

Rotary Club of Kalgoorlie meets at the Tower Hotel on Mondays at 6.00pm for 6.30pm. Visitors welcome!

JUNE is ROTARY FELLOWSHIPS Month

Rotary Club of Kalgoorlie

We all wish Anne all the best on her trip home to South Africa and her visit to St Jude’s School in Tanzania. She leaves on Tuesday 2 June. Happy travels Anne!!

WEBSITE

Lin is working away at getting our website all up to date and ready for launching at changeover. Cherie has been taking photos of members for inclusion on the website. On behalf of Lin, Cherie has also sent out a small questionnaire. If you do not wish to have your photo on the webpage or do not want any specific information on the webpage, please let Lin know and it will not be included.

From President Esther (cont) ... Enjoy this long weekend. If you are travelling please drive safely.

See you all on Thursday night, if not before.

Enjoy the rest of your week as you Light up Rotary.

Another great speaker this week! Ashley Tapper from Leeuwin Ocean Adventure spoke to the club about the amazing opportunities that are available to young people through Leeuwin Ocean Adventure.

Ashley is obviously very passionate about her job and it was wonderful to hear stories of young people who took and chance and potentially changed their lives over the course of one week.

Four-Way Test of the things we think, say or do

Is it the TRUTH?

Is it FAIR to all concerned?

Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER

FRIENDSHIPS?

Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Quote of the Week

“Science has broken down the barriers

between people, but that merely accentuates

our problems, particularly those which arise

out of misunderstandings, unless there is

also a spiritual growth. For every shortening

of the distance between peoples there must

be a broadening of human sympathies .”
