On Saturday night we celebrated not only our 68th Birthday at our annual Changeover, I was also so very proud to not only have been handed over the Presidency from Esther, but to have my first order of business of presenting another well-deserved Paul Harris Fellow to George Roadnight. As a Club I know we were all so very happy that the Roadnight Clan were on hand to share the evening and a personal thanks to Tyson, our raffle drawer extraordinaire, for the excellent job he did selling them. A special mention to Stephen for his announcing skills, he certainly was comfortable with the microphone! Dean, Rebekah and I thoroughly enjoyed the evening with our Rotary family and enjoy the fellowship that I feel has certainly become more of a feature over the past months. I am sure you will all agree what a joyful atmosphere was reinforced by Lynn’s song “A Gift to the World”, written especially for the Rotary Club of Kalgoorlie. We had such wonderful guests from far and wide such as Margaret and Les Hodges and family, Kim and Mac’s mother and children, as well our new friends from the Rotary club of Port Hedland Robyne and Patrick Browne travelling through to Queensland. Our special local guests President Mario and Cathy Cudini of Boulder Club and President Lisa and her husband Simon from Hannans were a great addition to the evening and our own Gavin, Ross, Anne and Kelsey were there in spirit. Due to the clash with District Changeover, our DG Melodie was not able to attend, however sent her well wishes to Esther via SMS. She is very keen to visit our Club on Monday night, and I am extremely happy for her to experience first-hand the enthusiasm of our relatively new team. I have relayed to her that we will be short on numbers; however Melodie is fully aware of this so offered to combine our business session with our normal meeting. Linda and Greg McLerie will be attending in place of ADG Geraldine Ennis, which is a fantastic opportunity for us as a club to speak with them both. (cont…)

I have some time away from the Club later in July with relocating Rebekah to Perth and an unexpected procedure that will keep me out of action till the middle of August at this stage, PP Esther will be chairing the meetings and the Board can use this time to amend our Directorship plans so we can hit the ground running in late August with an updated Club Plan. Our next Community Service event is the Sausage Sizzle at Bunnings on Sunday 19 July, I know that Deb is organising a schedule and roster so can we all please let her know

whatever time we can spare as this is a fantastic opportunity; not only to raise some dollars for our projects, but sell the benefits to being a Rotarian. We also have the annual KBULG Community Tree Planting day on Sunday 26 July from 9am to 11am. If you can attend, please let Deb know and wear your Rotary Club shirt, there will be a sausage sizzle after this event on site for the volunteers.
