Our Quote of the week "The key to being a good manager is keeping the people whohate me away from those who are still undecided."

Well here we are - the penultimate Bulletin contribution from me as we get closer to theend of the Presidential year. Last week we had the Presidential Changeover Dinner which was a fantastic event andone which personally I enjoyed enormously. It was great to welcome outgoing DistrictGovernor David Forster and his wife Jenny, outgoing Assistant Governor Geoff Robertsand his wife Jan, and incoming Assistant Governor Tony Stokes. PHF Sapphire to Roger Reece and Edith Ornellas Rotarian of the Year Award to Brett Stevens President's Award to Esther Murray Service above Self award to Basil Ornellas I have had a really enjoyable year and there has been a lot of good progress made and Icommend all members to read the Annual Report - if you did not get a copy at themeeting or were unable to be at the meeting I will be bringing copies to the next andfuture meetings. Roger, having been inducted as President then introduced his new Board and outlinedhis vision for the future. There are clearly exciting times ahead and with members fromSunrise joining as well I have no doubt the club will go from strength to strength underRoger's leadership. Just a few things to mention:

1. As of today four more sleeps to the end of the Presidential year.2. Just another reminder of the Rotaract Information Night to be held on 21 July

2010 from 8pm at the Monte Carlo Receptions.3. You should have received an e-mail from Denis Hyland, District Foundation

Chair, but if not please go to http://www.kickpoliooutofafrica.org to support furtherthe fight against polio.

Finally, it has been an historic week with our first female Prime Minister, New Zealandremaining unbeaten in the World Cup, the longest ever tennis match in history atWimbledon taking over 11 hours and the winner winning 70-68 in the final set andEngland reaching the last 16 of the World Cup probably to be beaten on penalties againby Germany. As we get closer to the end of the year I am running out of stories but here is one more: IN THE CUPBOARD A woman takes a lover home during the day while her husband is at work. Her 9 year old son comes home unexpectedly, sees them, and hides in the bedroomcupboard to watch. Just after getting into bed the woman's husband also comes homeunexpectedly, she tells her lover to hide in the cupboard, not realising that the little boy isin there. After a little while the little boy says, "Dark in here."The man, who obviously got a real fright not expecting to hear anything, let alone from alittle boy says, "Yes, it is."Boy - "I have a football."Man - "That's nice."Boy - "Want to buy it?"Man - "No, thanks."Boy - "My dad's outside."Man - "OK, how much?"Boy - "$250"In the next few weeks, it happens again that the boy and the lover are in the cupboardtogether.Boy - "Dark in here."

Man - "Yes, it is."Boy - "I have football boots."The lover, remembering the last time, asks the boy, "OK How much this time?"Boy - "$750"Man - "Sold."A few days later, the boys' father says to the boy, "Grab your boots and football, let's gooutside and have a game of soccer. The boy says, "I can't, I sold my ball and boots."The father asks, "How much did you sell them for and to whom?"The boy says, "To a friend of mine for a $1,000."The father says, "That's a terrible thing to do, overcharging your friend like that". "That'sfour times what they cost when they were new, I'm going to take you to church and makeyou confess your terrible sin."They go to the church and the father makes the little boy sit in the confession booth andhe closes the door. The boy says, "Dark in here".The priest says, "Don't start that again you little sod, you're in my cupboard now." I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at our final meeting of this Rotaryyear on 30 June 2010 and in the meantime remember The Future of Rotary is in YourHands . NOTE FROM TREASURER ELECT BOBThe presentation of a PHF to Russell Gurney on 23 June was no surprise to anyonewho has seen the progress made in various directions which can be seen to be, orlargely to be, his doing. The website was just a dream - or maybe a nightmare - before Russell took it andmade it a friendly servant rather than a feared master. The Bulletin editorship is a weekly burden for Russell, which he carries withdistinction. Russell takes the notes, he takes the photos. Only previous Bulletineditors know the gnawing agony of this process, but now it has a technical overlaytoo. Clubrunner is integral to many aspects of what we do and know - or should do andknow. Russell saw the potential of this multi faceted challenge, and convinced theclub it was worth doing. It is, and will be more so as we increase our request for it tohelp. Russell and his twin Leon put on a good show at the Changeover - a different style ofmeeting contribution from the performance at the Christmas Breakfast with Sunrise, but original, entertaining and well run. A great effort, especially after Russellproduced the Annual Report the day before - a marathon solo event. Somewhere hefound the time to make a programme of historical photos which screened duringfellowship breaks. Along the track Russell was the energy and smarts behind several District awardswon by Doncaster. He contributed to our District in helping sort its IT issues.

As PE, Russell has a big year leading to his presidency of the Club in June 2011. Ifinspiration and perspiration continue to count, his incumbency will be something ofwhich we can all be proud. A major aim is to create greater understanding and goodwill with world youth.

ROTARACT

After success with Interact, RI created Rotaract in 1968, aimed at developingcitizenship and leadership in groups of young men and women. The first clubwas established by RC Charlotte North, Nortn Carolina USA. By 2006 there were184,000 members in 8,000 clubs in 139 countries.

Individual responsibility is underscored as the basis of personal success andcommunity involvement. Each club must annually complete at least one projectserving the community, and one promoting international understanding.
