Amarjit Singh welcomed the chief guest Rtn. Gurdip Hari who is an American based Indian author and an active Rotarian of Rotary Club of Lynwood in Los Angeles, USA. President Amarjit also welcomed President Rtn. Sukhpreet S. Giani, Secretary Rtn. Harjeet Singh, Past Presidents and other Rotarians of Mohali and Past Presidents and other Rotarians of Chandigarh Midtown present in this joint meeting. Our Sergeant-at-Arms PP Rtn. Dr. V.J.S. Vohra had the privilege of collaring both the Presidents. President Amarjit played an interesting video, a rousing speech in USA by Ms. Valarie Kaur, an award-winning young filmmaker, civil rights lawyer, activist, author, Sikh thought leader and movement- builder, who while talking about the recent hate crime in USA, spoke about pouring love in places where there is fear and rage, we can transform an encounter, a relationship, a culture, a country, and enter a new era with Revolutionary Love. In his opening remarks President Sukhpreet Giani said, “It is indeed an honour and a privilege to be present in your club for number of reasons. Whenever in the District we talk of Rotary systems, the name of Chandigarh Midtown is always on the top. We at Mohali certainly look up to your club for many reasons.” President Sukhpreet also went down the memory lane, back to August 23, 2001 when Rtn. Indrajeet Sengupta was the President of our club. As arranged by Rtn. P.K. Verma, Sukhpreet with his two colleagues from Punjab Tractors had addressed our club as guest speakers after winning the trophy as young managers. Rtn. Gurdip Hari Rtn. Gurdip Hari, who was accompanied by his daughter Jasmin Kaur Sandhu and son-in-law Abheet Singh Sandhu, was formally introduced by PP Rtn. Gurdip S. Deep. Gurdip Hari believes that good health is the birth-right of every human being, but the majority are ignorant of this fact, and therefore accept sickness, disease and related sufferings as a normal part of life. He also believes that the most powerful medicine is to teach how to stay away from it by allowing your food and way of life to become your medicine. He calls his three books that were recently released in India, the basic course books to learn how to live life in abundance by understanding your true nature, and fulfill your destiny on Earth by finding true everlasting success in your life. He distributed these 3 award winning President Amarjit Singh and President Sukhpreet S. Currently in India, to share his message with the Rotarians in Chandigarh, in his talk Rtn. Gurdip Hari says, “Health is our biggest wealth, but to be wealthy in the true sense, we got to be healthy, because no amount of wealth can ever buy us good health.” We should know who we are, and how our body functions internally. We need to go back to nature and connect to our innermost core to see the magnificence of our real personality and the super natural powers that are our integral part. Gurdip Hari says that at the age of 61 he is as energetic as he was at the age of 25 and enjoys good health. Food is his medicine, and medicine is his food. Gurdip Hari said that we go to the man made temple, but we do not realize that our body is the real temple which has been created by God, and we need to take proper care of it as we are the priest of this God made temple. Ego is our major obstacle. Instead of trying to change others, we should change our Self. Being an active Rotarian, Gurdip Hari concluded his talk by referring to the Four Way Test of Rotary, as changing our self is the Truth, is Fair to all concerned, builds Goodwill and Better Friendships, and will be Beneficial to all concerned. Rtn. Kulvinder Singh thanked Rtn. Gurdip Hari for awakening us with his wonderful and priceless talk.

Schools in Mohali need our support

Secretary Sundeep S. Sawhney visited schools in Mohali with President Sukhpreet S. Giani. These schools need basic facilities like benches and toilets. It is proposed to shift few benches available at our Nevedac Literacy Centre with PP Dr. V.J.S. Vohra, who will do so, subject to the approval of our board.

DISHA, the goal setting and training programme convened by RI Director Elect Basker Chockalingam at Hotel The Retreat, Madh Island, Mumbai, was the first of its kind where the senior leaders of Rotary in India got together with District Governors Elect and Chairs of DRFC, Membership, Public Relations, WinS and Literacy from India, Sri Lanka and Nepal to prepare them for Rotary year 2017-18.

PDG Shaju Peter attended the programme on February 25, 2017 as DRFC Chair, and set a target of US$ 500,000 from the District for next year as total TRF contribution. Among those who addressed the delegates were PRIP Raja Saboo, PRIP Kalyan Banerjee, PRIP K.R. Ravindran besides Past RI Directors of India including Y.P. Das.

Hearty Congratulations to our Vice President Salil Bali

Rtn. Salil Bali was awarded Indian Achiever Award on 4th March 2017 at Hotel Lalit, New Delhi at National Summit for Women empowerment for his services in the legal field. The function was inaugurated by Mrs. Maneka Gandhi, Union Minister for Women & Child Development. The Award was given to Salil by International fame Bharat Natyam Dancer Ms. Prathibha Prahlad in presence of Former Union Minister Dr. Sanjay Paswan. Salil was recognized for his initiative taken for the change in Juvenile Law, the issue which gained importance as an aftermath of infamous Nirbhaya case.
