ORIGINATIONRotar Club o Buc rus

Organized and Chartered on August 1,1920,Bucyrus Rotary Club commenced with twenty-three Charter Members.

The club was chartered as No. 760. Its rstpresident, L.A. Dozer, died on February 14,

1921. The treasurer, W.A. Blicke, lled out thebalance o the rst year as president.The Bucyrus Rotary Club was sponsored by

the Rotary Club o Columbus, Ohio. An articlecarried by the Bucyrus Evening Telegraph, dated

July 13, 1920, states that the Bucyrus RotaryClub was o cially instituted by W.J. Longbon,o the Columbus Club, who was designated asthe Special Governor in charge o organizingthe Bucyrus Club. The article states that sixty-

ve enthusiastic Columbus Rotarians came toBucyrus on a special electric car over the C.D.& M. Electric Traction Line or the evening. Itappears that a number o Mans eld Rotariansalso came or the occasion. The meeting was

held at the Bucyrus Elks Club, with dinner at7:00 P.M.Although the Bucyrus Club was instituted

on July 13, 1920, the o cial charter was notpresented until August 1, 1920, at which time

the Charter was presented by Mr. Frank Medicko the Columbus Rotary Club.

THE OBjECT OF ROTARy

To encourage and foster the ideal of service asa basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, toencourage and foster:

1. The development of acquaintance as anopportunity for service.

2. High ethical standards in business andprofessions; the recognition of the worthinessof all useful occupations; and the dignifyingby each Rotarian of his occupation as anopportunity to serve society.

3. The application of the ideal of service byevery Rotarian to his personal, business, andcommunity life.

4 . The advancemen t o f i n t e rna t iona lunderstanding, good will and peace through a

world fellowship of business and professionalpersons united in the ideal of service.

ATTENdANCE

Only through being together once a week at Rotarycan each Rotarian give the most to Rotary as wellas receive the most out of being a Rotarian.

Every member of this club should attend itsregular meetings. All members are encouraged

to make up at other clubs to maintain or exceedtheir 60% attendance requirement.

Good attendance is one of the measures of astrong, health, progressive and happy RotaryClub. Let us measure up well.
