Who we serve…
March 2011Alaska Arts Education Month
4
Executive Proclamation by Governor Sean Parnell
WHEREAS
Art education integrates life and learning for all students.
5
WHEREAS
The study of arts develops creative thinking, problem solving, and communications skills; and fosters self discipline and teamwork capabilities-all characteristics that increase self esteem and are vital components of responsible, contributing Alaskan citizens.
6
WHEREASContinued art education for Alaska’s youth is an
essential component of our state and nation’s bright future, as President Kennedy noted “I see little of more importance to the future of our country and of civilization than full recognition of the place of the artist. If art is to nourish the roots of our culture, society must set the artist free to follow him or her vision wherever it may take him or her.”
