Activities of the Club during the year 2017-18:
The Rotaract club functions with Mr. P.Sakthivel, Lecturer (Sen. Gr.) as the coordinator.He along with Rtr. G. Sivananthan, President and Rtr. S.Poovarasan Secretary coordinates the events of the club.Installation
Rtr. G. Sivananthan of 3rd year Civil and Rtr. S.Poovarasan of 3rd year Electrical and Electronics Engineering were installed as President and Secretary of the club by Rtn .S. JOTHIRAMALINGAM, District Interact Committee Chairman, R.I. District 3202, on 7th August 2017.
Blood Donation Camp106 Units of blood were donated to Erode Government Hospital Blood bank
on 15.12.2017.Tree Planting Program
More than 50 tree saplings were planted and maintained on 01.07.2017, College campus was cleaned with the help of NSS volunteers on 13.07.2017.
Awareness Camps
·A awareness to prevent Dengue fever and other diseases the Nilavembu Kasayam was given to 1200 students of our college on 18.07.2017.
·An Dengue awareness programme was conducted jointly with Athani Government Hospital to create awareness about the fever, its symptoms and remedy.
·World Population Day was celebrated on 17.08.2017. A workshop was conducted in connection with World Population Day.
·In the month of August ,2017 SakthiNagar Rotary Club created a unique Fundraiser to end Polio under “End Polio Now”. Students of our institution collected an amount of Rs.3000 as donation for the cause and handed over it to

·An awareness on the importance of Hand washing was created among the school children of P.U.E. School of V.Vellapalayam on 5.09.2017
·The club introduced a new idea of Donating Used Books among the students of our institution.
·To encourage Numismatics (Coin Collection) , Coin Exhibition was organized on 28.12.2017.

Pongal Celebration
·SPC on 12.01.2018. Various cultural events, traditional games and sports were conducted. The august presence of Chief guest Mr. N.Chezian, GM Sakthi Sugars Ltd., Parent Rotary Club President, Secretary and members, Principal Dr. K.R. Muthuswamy and the Sakthi family comprising of more than 1500 students and 200 staff members of our college made it a grand success.
·Our students (6 students) were encouraged to participate in the RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) Youth Leadership Awareness Camp conducted by Rotary Clun, Pollachi on 27 & 28.01.2018.
·An Road Safety Awareness programme was organized with the Erode District Superindent of Police as the Chief Guest on 12.02.2018 to create an awareness among our students.
NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME
NSS coordinators are Mr.K.Saravanan,Lecturer (Sen. Gr.) Department of Electronics and Communication Engineerig and Ms.S.Chitra Lecturer (Sel. Gr.) Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
Activities of the academic year 2017-2018:
·A 7 day Special Camp was organized from 11.01.2018 to 17.01.2018 at V.Vellalapalayam and Kooli valasu areas. In the camp , barbed wire fencing was made around the V.Vellalapalayam Elementary School at a cost of Rs,25000 with the support of our Management and the service of the NSS volunteers.
·In the project camp, Eye Check-up Camp was organized and free eye testing was done and for 10 beneficiaries Eye Surgery was also organized.
·Free medicine were given to the public through the Free Medicine Scheme,
·Siddha Camp, Physiotherapy Camp and Blood Donation Camps were organized.
·Rally on AIDS Awareness and other workshops were conducted .
An Intra-collegiate Pongal celebration was organized by Rotaract club of

NSS CAMP
NATIONAL CADET CORP NCC is an organisation engaged in conducting constructive activities for all the cadets under its fold. Students who have undergone training at the NCC have self discipline, leadership qualities and good value system. NCC also helps in shaping them into dynamic and responsible citizens of India.
National Cadet Corps is engaged in grooming the youth 'The Leaders of Tomorrow' into disciplined and patriotic citizens. The NCC of Sakthi Polytechnic is being attached to 15(TN)Battalion NCC, Erode and is acting with Mr. D. RameshKumar, Lecturer, Department of Mechanical Engineering as coordinators. All the activities of NCC will start at the beginning of new academic year in the month of July.Totally 20 parades were conducted on Saturdays & general holidays for the enrolled cadets,not disturbing the academics of the students.During the parade time various activities like drill, weapon training and theory classes on military subjects will be conducted to the students.
In the training year 2017-2018, apart from the regular parades various activities were conducted in the college for the cadets :
·01 cadet from our institution participated in the Boys Mountaineering Expedition Camp at Uttarkand, New delhi
·15 cadets from our institution participated in the Combined Annual Training Camp at Perundurai, Erode
·7 cadets from our institution has participated Combined Annual Training Camp at Gobi Arts and science, Gobichettipalayam.
RED RIBBON CLUB
Red Ribbon Club is envisaged to instill among the students the values of service, develop healthy life styles and increase access to safe and adequate quantities of blood to all the needy by promotion of voluntary blood donation. RRC also aims at harnessing the potential of the youth by equipping them with relevant information on health issues and building their capacity in spreading messages on health behaviour.RRC functions with Mr. K. Saravanan, Lecturer(Sen. Gr.) as faculty co-ordinator with 150 student volunteers. RRC has promoted voluntary blood donation among youth. An orientation programme was conducted on the functioning of an ICTC Lab at Government Hospital, Kavindapadi and an AIDS awareness rally was also conducted.
YOUTH RED CROSS
Youth Red Cross 's mission is to inspire, encourage and initiate at all times all forms of humanitarian activities so that human sufferings can be minimized and even prevented and this contribute to create climate for peace. YRC's objective is to foster better friendly relationship with all without any discrimination. YRC functions with Ms.A.Sumathi, Lecturer, Department of Mathematics and Mr. V. Kailasapathy, Lecturer Department of Physics as the Coordinator and 200 student volunteers .” Swach Bharat Abhiyan (“Clean India Movement) India's largest cleanliness drive is a step towards cleanliness. It is a campaign by the Government of India to clean the streets,roads and keep the surroundings clean. Under the scheme, our students cleaned Nachiputhupuram area. To create social awareness about the isssues prevalent in the society among the students AIDS Awareness programme, Dengue Awareness Rally were organised. Further, Youth Day, World Cancer Day, Handwashing Day, HIV Awareness Programme, Rights and Laws for Women were the programmes organised by the YRC.
COMPUTER CENTRES
A well-equipped centre has been established to cater to the needs of the students from various branches of our college. It provides training to students from all branches of study and enables them to gain firsthand knowledge in computers. Internet facilities are offered to the students through the centre. Through 5 computer centres and over 375 computers equipped with latest machine and software, various short term courses, certificate courses are offered to the students during summer and

winter vacations. The systems are networked and have a 14Mbps BSNL broadband line for internet usage through “National Mission for Education through Information and Technology” of HRD department's motive .Certificate Course which helps the students to meet the enormous demands arising out of globalization, CCNA ( CISCO certified Network Associate) certificate courses help students placed as Field Technicians, Network Technicians and Network Administrators. During this academic year , 25 computers were purchased for the AUTOCAD lab in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at a cost of Rs.7,65,000 to furnish it with the necessary facilities. Moreover, there are computer centres for the various departments to facilitate the students .
LIBRARY The library functions for the voracious readers of our college. The college
library has a collection of over 32,784 volumes of books worth Rs. 25,17,650 are available on various genres covering a range of technical disciplines. Under the Book Bank Scheme over 3258 books worth Rs 4,88,776 is issued to students. The library subscribes 48 journals and leading newspapers in both the languages for the benefit of students and staff members. Our library functions as a digital library and has 10 computers with internet facilities.

DRIVING SCHOOL
The Driving School was started in the year 2008 and functions under the co-
ordinator Dr. N. Thangavel, HOD, Department of Mechanical Engineering. Our
Driving School is a unique one as it collects minimum fees for training and
acquiring license for both two-wheeler and four-wheeler vehicles in the district. Till
date, 1243 students have got their licence through the school. It is one of the
exemplary driving school in the district.
TRANSPORT
A full fledged transport department functions in the college with buses to
provide transport facility to students. A fleet of Nine buses which ply to Sakthi,
Gobi, Erode, Ammapet, Kavindapadi, Anthiyur Sennampatti, Kongarpalayam ,
Mecheriand Kunnathur routes in the morning and evening. Around 900 students
from various parts of the region use the bus services to commute to the college and
are benefitted by the bus facilities provided by the institution.
ISTE SIT CHAPTER
Sakthi Polytechnic College is an institutional member of the Indian Society for Technical Education. The ISTE chapter of the institution functions from 1992 onwards. The chapter functions with Mr. S.D.Krishnakumar,Lecturer, Department of Mechanical Engineerings as the co-ordinator and with 45 life members on its role. To help students excel in interviews, training courses on topics Tips for Career Growth, Interview Skills and Group Discussion , Aptitude Test are conducted periodically.
ISO CERTIFICATION
Our college is a Govt. Aided and ISO 9001-2008 certified Institution and is
offering relentless service to the rural students for more than 35 years. Quality
education to all students has been ensured with the help of implementation of ISO
systems in our college. The uniformity in delivering high quality in teaching
learning process is monitored by ISO systems and necessary improvements are

Ready” quality education. ISO is renewed recertified for another 3 years from
September 2016.
HOSTEL
Our college has hostel facility for both girls and boys. The total strength of
the hostellers (inclusive of girls ) is 139. Students in the hostel are accomdated in
well-furnished rooms, well-lighted, and well-ventilated rooms. Students have mess
facility with pure vegetarian food prepared in a hygienic and healthy way. Clean
drinking water is provided to the inmates. Medical facilities are provided by a
visiting doctor. Special coaching Classes in academic and sports are arranged to
them.
THE CO-OPERATIVE STORE
The Sakthi Polytechnic College Students Co-operative Store functions with
Mr. P. Boopathi Lecturer, (Sen. Gr. ), Department of Agricultural Technology as
the Secretary. It functions for the benefit of the students . It supplies stationeries,
books, instruments, cosmetics,and other materials to student and staff members at a
concessional rate.Since 2003, the store selects the Best Outgoing Student and
honours the student with a Silver Medal, Cash Prize and a Certificate. Since 2003,
the store also honours a student from the Self-financed Wing of our College.
At present it honours the student from the Department of Mechanical Engineering
(SF). The total budget( income and expenditure )for the fiscal year 2016-17 is
Rs. 2,07,99,009. And the net profit is Rs.3,42,231.37.

The 37th Annual Day was celebrated on 24-02-2018. Sun TV Pugazh, Asathal Mannan, Nagaisuvai Perarasu Thiru Devakottai S. Ramanathan Ravikumar B,A., B.L, a renowned Tamil orator and Standup Comedian was the Chief Guest and he spoke on the importance of Hard work and perseverance. His speech was well received by the students. Thiru N. Sezhian, Senior General Manager, Sakthi Sugars Ltd., Sakthi Nagar was the Guest Honour. Earlier Dr. K.R. Muthuswamy, Principal presented the Annual report and Mr. K.M. Gopu, Lecturer ,Department of Physics , welcomed the gathering. Thiru G. Muniasamy, Correspondent of the Institution wished everyone on this occasion. Dr. K.Mohan, Lecturer, Department of Chemistry delivered the Vote of Thanks. The chief guest of the function and other dignitaries presented the prizes to the students. Top performers in Studies, Sports and literary activities were Honoured with Gold medals, Certificates and Prizes. Later in the afternoon, the students presented a Cultural feast. The function was well attended by Staff members, Students of the College and Officials from Sakthi Sugars Ltd., and made it a grand success.
ALUMINI FUNCTIONThe Alumni associat ion of our col lege is funct ioning with
Mr. J. Ramakrishnan Lecturer (Sel. Gr.), Department of Electronics and
Communication as the co-ordinator. The Alumni Association General Body Meeting will
be conducted on the third Sunday of December every year. This year a mass of alumni
took part in the Alumni Day/Association Meeting held on 17.12.2017 and graced the
occasion.Sakthi Polytechnic Alumni Charitable Trust established in 2009, for a worthy
cause provides financial assistance to poor meritorious students of the institution. The
contributions to the Alumni Charitable trust accumulated to a sum of Rs.11,00,000 which
is deposited in the bank and the accrued interest of Rs. 66000 is given as scholarship to the
students of our institution. Chapters are being formed in various cities.The alumni those who studied till 1989-92 organised the function in a grand manner. This
year the alumni have generously donated Rs,2,17,350 to the Sakthi Polytechnic Alumni
Charitable Trust.Guest lectures by eminent alumni have become part of the activities monthly
calendar at SPC.The alumni also visit the institution as and when time permits and interact
with students their expertise and experience to motivate and inspire them to excel in their
field of study.A Grand Job Mela was jointly organised by 1992 Batch Alumni Students SIT ,
Erode District Small Scale Industries Associaton EEDISSIA, Erode , Erode District
Employment Office , Tamilnadu Government Mahazhir Thittam and Sakthi Polytechnic
College at our premises on 3rd February 2018 for the benefit of rural youth in and around
the area. In this mega recruitment drive, over 134 companies from the state participated
and conducted interview to the overwhelming interviewees of 2258 from Erode,
Namakkal, and Salem DistrictsMore than 9000 alumni have registered themselves in the Alumni Portal of the
institution's website.
