wi#e and I barreling through the $ew %e&ico desert at3 iles per hour down -253 #ro )lines )orners, a

hiccup o# a town.

It was y birthday weekend, and when y wi#e asked

what I wanted to do, I 6ust pulled out the itinerary I7d

prepared and pointed to a ap o# (oswell.

It was like %ecca to a #reak like e, and I7d

wanted to see it #or ysel# since I was a kid.

'I know it7s 6ust a little town with nothing to really do,but I bet I could get a #unny article out o# it. And

check out soe bats, too.* ecretly, I was hoping that I

would soehow get to see a crashed , or at least adead ray, but I decided to keep that to ysel#.

ro two iles back, I could see the #irst landark: a uper 9alart with '9elcoe to (oswell*

painted on the #ront window, surrounded in little green en.

I needed supplies be#ore we do8e in, so I stopped.

o# the ain oney-akers in town. hat and postcards.

told anyone who would listen that he had not only seen the debris, but bodies as well.

he crash only took up about an eighth o# the e&hibits. here were spots dedicated to di##erentsightings, opposing theories, #an art, s in =ollywood, and a

hoeade o8ie theater that was playingFire in the Skythe

whole tie we were there.>ut the piHce de rsistance was a li#e-siCed landing party o#ray aliens, coplete with a big badass saucer.

I was studying the anatoically correct buttocks o# one o# the

s when I o8erheard the sound o# a little girl being sucked into

a li#etie o# obsession with alien abduction stories.

occasional bout o# an&iety as she lays in bed, desperatelyworried that this will be the night the rays coe and take her.
