Ross Kemp: Extreme World

Description• On the show, Kemp travels around the world

talking to people involved in illicit trades, locals who have been affected by violence and hardship, and the authorities who are attempting to combat the problems. In each episode he attempts to establish contacts within the groups in order to get close to the ringleaders.

Editing• The documentary is edited in chronological order.

This keeps the viewer engaged with the documentary because they want to know what happens next. The documentary is mainly long cuts as they are following Ross, but in the action packed parts short cuts are used to build tension.

Cinematography• There is the use of establishing shots in the

documentary to give the viewer an understanding of where it is and the situation he is in. As they follow Ross there is a lot of use in hand held cameras making the viewer almost feel as if they are there following Ross.

Sounds• Both voiceovers and talking to the camera are

used in the documentary. The music used is fairly fast paced to make the viewer feel as if there is a lot of action in the clip. This keeps the viewer interested and creates a tense atmosphere. Upbeat music is used between clips to keep the viewer excited about the documentary.
