ROSES AND CAP DE CREUS AREA
Spain, and our provinceGirona in particular has a lot to offer and actually, some Italianfriends find this particular area called Empord very similar to their Tuscany.
Your course will take place in Roses, at the feet of Cape of Creus natural park. It's the most Eastern Cape
in Spain. Cadaqus is the most magical town in the area, full of character. Salvador Dali could see thatimmediately and made it his home town until he died. Maybe that is why a lot of painters live there all year
round. They love its bright colours, clear skies, beautiful waters, white houses, small fishing boats. When we
go there to paint, youll realize that its beauty and character remains untouched.
Cadaqus
Besal is another wonderful painting venue, a medieval town all made in stone with an impressive Romanbridge. It was here (together with other towns) where the first Counts started Catalonia as a country in the
Middle Ages. It has three Romanesque churches and a Jewish quarter a real gem of a place.

Castell d'Empries is a little treasure very near the hotel, it's a medieval town with a gothic
Basilica/Cathedral and a historical centre that holds the troubadour festival in September. Everyone there isdressed in medieval clothes, some ride horses, medieval food is served in the streets, so you feel you've gone
back in time. Some allotments in the back of the city give a beautiful perspective of the Basilica and its
medieval wall, a highly paintable place.

Girona, this beautiful town has majestic squares surrounded by cafes with their outdoor areas of tables, chairs and umbrella canopies. These provide an ideal site for painting. The river is adorned with colourful
houses and we cross one of the bridges into the historically famous Jewish quarters. One is taken back many
centuries in time and entranced by the beauty of the architecture. The Ramblas is very close by and there is a
beautiful painting everywhere you look. It is an avenue of trees lined with cafes where people sit in the
dappled light enjoying their caf con leche and watching the world go by. The contrast of light and shade and
the cast shadows created by the trees, awnings and people create fascinating, colourful and quite spectacular
compositions.
We will also paint in Santa Margarida around the hotel, its lovely waterways with boats are anattractive subject matter, as well as the view of the Bay from the beach! Rosas town is just a relaxed stroll
away or a 5 min. bus ride from the hotel.
So a very complete painting program for an unforgettable week with abundance of subject matter. Theres
an optional program for non-painters who can join us in every excursion of course. The hotel itself organizes
some activities in case they prefer to do their own thing. For you, it will be just paint, paint and paint, talk
about paintings, looking at paintings and live totally immersed in ART, learning from the best tutors.
We will stay at Hotel Victoriawww.prestigehotels.com right by the sea, with a swimming pool, wi-fi, a spa
centre. More details are sent separately. All meals are included in the program: buffet breakfast, lunch and
dinner (or a packed lunch when we go out painting). Rooms are double with a lateral sea view, en suite
