Minutes—December 4, 2015

Meeting was called to order by President Beverly Davis with21 in attendance.

Secretary Jean Reeves reminded about paying dues on timeso we can get an accurate Roster in the February Edition ofthe Newsletter.

Treasurer Janet Brand reported the following:Beginning Balance $35,145Income $1,430Expenses $1,729Ending Balance $34,845

She asked if we wanted to do our regular donation of $500 toSellwood, $200 to the Lace Museum, and $100 to Shuttle-birds. It was voted to do the same this year.

DEMOS —Champoeg December 6. OK to come in Christmas Sweaterinstead of a costume this time.Snowflakes at Sellwood December 6th, but no informationcould be had if we were invited this year or not.Magic at the Mill either Dec. 19 or 20. Beverly will contactthose going to see which date will work best for most.

Special announcement by Beryl - CJ David is getting mar-ried tomorrow.

Jackie had announcements, information and questions re-garding the NW Conference. We discussed items listed inthe newsletter. In addition, she had information on the mealsand choices for us to vote on. The possible menu waspassed around and we voted on several items, salads anddeserts. Class size is 12. We are still looking for vendors.Jackie has the contract/information if you need to give tosomeone.

We still need butterflies made with bobbin lace. These needto be in a three to four inch (ish) size. Please give to Alice.

The next Conference meeting will be on the 25th of April.After our lacemaking in McMinnville and usual lunch we willre-convene at Jackie’s in Newberg to assemble goodie bagsetc.

Leftover bowl from Lace Day was claimed by Janet Brand.Glad we found its home.

Next order of business was the installation of officers. Mar-garet Palen performed the ceremony accompanied by ShirleyMcDaniel. Our officers are:

President Beverly Davis, Vice President Jackie Nissen, Sec-retary Shelley Heringer, and Treasurer Pauline Zietz

There is an opening for Librarian to be filled by appointmentof the President.

The meeting was then adjourned and we enjoyed a potlucksocial time.

Beverly received an email from Lanka Sukenck (?)--she does lacein wire in Canada. Bev was going to pass the email around (but Idon't think it made the rounds).

Volunteer hours notebook was sent around for those wanting torecord in the group book instead of keeping their own record.

Jackie sent a copy of Australian Lace Museum Magazine which hasa lovely "teaser" pattern inside.

Attendees have carpooled in the past, and will probablydo so again this year with plans to leave on Thursday 4/16/15 andreturn on Sunday 4/19/15. Contact Jackie for further information.

Jean passed around "Kloppelshop 2014 Katalog" A village in Ger-many is advertising for Trees to be made to hang around their vil-lage. Jean thought it would be an interesting, and fun, project tosend some trees from PLS to the village. They must be returned bythe April PLS meeting so they can be mailed out in time for theshow in Germany. Contact Jean for pattern.

==================================Enclosed is the pattern and information sheet regard-ing the Mein Baum fur Schonsee which are trees to bemade in lace. We will be sending them off to Ger-many to display in the village. The folder was in acatalog I received from Kloppelshop.

Christina has translated for us so here are the direc-tions in English.

Small Tree:for trunk and crown appr 8-10 pairsMaterial: Linen NEL 80/3 or NEL 60/2, possibly somewire for edgesIf small tree increased by 20%: Linen NEL 50/3 or NEL35/2Color:Green: any from light to dark greenBrown: earthy, brown, ochre, etc.Silver: on edges for snow (or white?)Instructions:Start at the trunk, then continue onto the crown.

Feel free to work the tree design any way you wantbut please keep the form.Size, technique, type of lace and materials are up toyou.As the trees will be presented hanging as well, itwould be suitable to add wire to the edges and starchthe lace well.

We will collect the trees at the April meeting, but ifyou make trees and cannot attend they should fit inflat envelope to send to me or give them to someoneyou know is coming. You can also give them to me atthe March 28th McMinnville lace meeting. We willthen write a letter and send to them maybe with pic-tures of our forests here in Oregon. Make as manytrees as you can. Next MeetingNext meeting will be scheduled Saturday after-noon, April 25 following lace in McMinnville.From 1:30 to 4:00. The purpose of the meetingis to put together goodie bags with items thatwe have.

There will be additional goodies which will beadded Wednesday June 17 when we hand outthe bags.

We will need to have a small group meetingaround June 10 to put together registration in-formation.

FavorsI have bags with 10 lanyard hooks for the tatters making scissor fobs for the mini scissors. See me for as many as youmight need.

If anyone is working on favors, please let me know. I am trying to make sure each item is identified with the name of theperson(s) donating the items.

Muriel has finished the butterfly pincushions and the golf tee magnet pin “pickeruppers.” Thank you Muriel for all yourhard work.
