For higher productivity, the Model LF-100from Jacobsen Turf Equipment cuts a 100-inch swath at speeds up to five mph. This isa durable, out-front five-gang reel fairwaymower that gives a greens-quality cut.

The mower's heavy-duty design report-edly gives it greater durability than triplexgreens mowers. Yet it exerts extremely lowground pressure, to ensure less soil com-paction and healthier turf.

The smooth-running, three-cylinder, 22-hp diesel engine is liquid-cooled for efficientoperation in demanding conditions. Aheavy-duty air cleaner keeps the enginerunning clean, promising longer life.

The two outside reels are in front of theoperator, so the trimming edge is easilyseen without looking away from the mowingpath. This provides better control of overlap,as well as improved operator visibility andcomfort. The mower configuration alsoleaves a shorter uncut circle of grass onturns, and makes grass-catcher removaland reel maintenance easier.

Heavy-section blades and bedknivesmake for extra strength and longer life. Thefully floating reels follow ground contoursclosely for a precise cut, and pivot throughturns to eliminate scuffing of turf on theclean-up pass.

EROSION·CONTROLMAT

A permanent erosion-control mat com-posed of flexible, UV-stabilized, bonded,vinyl monofilaments has been introducedby Greenstreak, Inc.

Permanent Erosion-Control Mat (PEC-Mat) reduces the erosive effects of wind,rain and flood on landfill, recreational areas,golf courses, and other slopes. Because ofits extra-thick filaments and dense webstructure, the mat will not wash out or beundermined, even in heavy-volume areaswith high-velocity flow.

The mat encourages and protectsrevegetation by becoming entwined withthe root system, forming a strong founda-tion that actually reduces runoff flowvolume. A calculated porosity of 80 to 85percent allows the percolation and retentionof sufficient water to promote seedlingdevelopment.

find an improved turf-type tall fescue-andthey were well rewarded when they foundWrangler. This low-growing, dark-greengrass from Jacklin Seed Company hasgood density, is medium-textured, and ismoderately tolerant of close mowing.

The fescue exhibits good heat-and-drought resistance. It performs well in sunand shade, even under low-maintenanceconditions. This grass is a 14-clone,advanced-generation, synthetic variety thatis winter-hardy and an excellent performerin the cool-season regions of NorthAmerica.
