This contest requires architectural consideration and use of any type of roofs (flat roofs, sloped, gable, in towers, houses, blocks, towns ...) This competition aims to think about the management, usage and potential of roofs, anywhere in the world, and out of planning regulations, with proposals coming from a realistic but unprejudiced process about this subject. - What uses are most suitable / adaptable for a roof? - What are the most interesting roofs? - How do I access to that space? - How is it connected to the other physical /virtual networks ? - Where should it be located? - What is its extension? 2. PROPOSAL The project is necessarily located in one (or several) roofs of any kind, being used or not, located anywhere in the world, chosen by the contestant. It will be accepted any type of use and program (social, economic, political, energy, production, trade ...). Approaches are sought enriching, inspiring and creative to provide a new point of view, a new perspective on the unprejudiced concept of "roof." The extent of intervention will be defined by the contestant, and may propose from ephemeral and timely action to a complex network of interventions. The proposal should not be under planning regulations, unless the participant elects to research in this field. 3.KIND OF CONTEST Rooftops, why not? is a competition of ideas with an open intervention of judges, anonymous and in one step. Is private and its nature is purely academic. The proposals received will be part of a virtual exhibition in the Contesta website and allows architects to translate these visions. This contest is governed by what is described in these rules, leaving Contesta and, in turn, the jury, empowered to resolve issues that are not listed. The decisions to be taken where necessary, respect the principles of anonymity of the contestants. The compromise of ContestA with the winners is limited to the awards mentioned in these rules. No further contractual relations will be derived from ContestA and the winners of this contest, the contest is academic and therefore will not be built in any case. 4. CONTESTANTS Contestant may be able to give anyone an interesting view, for a new use or management of the roofs. (students from high school, grade, both architecture and other branches, Engineering, Urban Planning, Design, Photography etc.. and all those professional and amateur design.) Participation can be individual or group, being three the maximum number of members per team. Teams can have members of different nationalities, disciplines and schools The registration fee is for each proposal, regardless of the number of team members. It allows the presentation of several proposals by the same team, but each proposal must be individually and properly registered . Excluded from participation jurors, close relatives to these or any member of the organizing team. 6. 7. REGISTRATION AND ACCEPTANCES OF CONTESTANTS Registration is formalized through the payment and registration form by following the steps outlined in the terms of each period Take as the record date the date on which payment is made.

When checking the payment a confirmation email will be sent with the Registration Number.

The registration period starts on August 22, 2011 and ends on January 8, 2012 at 20:00 in Central Europe (Central European Time (CET) = UTC / GMT + 1:00)

The following are registration fees according to the date of registration:

PERIOD 1 (August 22, 2011 - 16 October, 2011) 38,00 € PERIOD 2 (October 17, 2011 - November 20, 2011) 58,00 € PERIOD 3 (November 21, 2011 - January 8, 2012) 80,00 €

NOTES: The record date will be valid in which payment is made and no other.

Payment of registration may be any of the following ways:

The bank taxes related with bank transfer costs are not included in the registration fee Applicants should bear those costs.

As soon as we have verified the deposit, we will send you the registration number. Note: not valid any registration that has not been formalized in any of these terms.

8. PRESENTATION The proposal will be submitted in one graphic document DINA-1, no further documentation. The document must contain the necessary information for the proper exposure of each proposal. It must contain the registration number of each team, for identification and anonymity.

Document specifications: Digital image format: JPG File name: número de Registro (por ejemplo: IOU123.jpg) Maximum weight: 5 Mb per image. Graphic size: DIN A1.

No additional documentation may be sent over the images above. They may not join any trademark, logo, insignia or any item that could identify the author, unless the Registration Number, which should appear in the upper right corner of the image.

Each team must establish which documents he considers appropriate for the exhibition of the proposal, proposed guidelines are the following:

• Justification of the project concept. (diagrams, ideograms, topograms ...) • Plant type plants or representative. • partial or complete Section representative. • Perspectives and renders.

The technique is free (2D drawings, models photographed, hand perspectives, renderings, photomontages ...) A small memory can be attached in Din A1 written in English or Spanish.

9. SUBMISSION OF PROPOSALS Proposals must be sent via e-mail to [email protected] The email should contain exclusively a file whose name is the Registration Number which will include the JPG of the proposal.

The deadline for submitting proposals is January 29, 2012 at 20:00 in Central Europe (Central European Time (CET) = UTC / GMT + 1:00)

After this period, ContestA prepare the minutes of receipt in which shall bear the number of entries and their registration numbers.

ContestA will collect the proposals and forward them to the jury to remain anonymous.

Proposals arriving after the deadline will not be accepted under any circumstances.

10. ANONYMITY ContestA undertakes to ensure at all times respect the anonymity of each proposal for the development of competition. The work will be presented only with your registration number will be the only element that will be organized, process and evaluate each proposal, the information is stored separately and only after the end of the process the jury will know the name of the winners. 12. JURY The Jury is composed of school teachers and other prominent architects.

Each juror will vote the projects according to the resolution quality of their areas of expertise in assessing the final project as a whole.

From the third day after the actual receipt of all proposals, all images received will be available for review by the jurors, who will have to consider how much time it needed. All Jury members will get them in the same period a CD containing all files sent by the contestants. Date to be determined by mutual agreement between the jurors and ContestA shall be a plenary meeting to proceed with the discussion of the failure. The jury selection procedure layering according to the quantity and quality of proposals, based on systems and discards subsequent discussion.

The jury will present collegiate, and thus be reflected in the record, the reasons for considering that the winning entries, and entries are worthy of it.

13. EVALUATION The evaluation of proposals will focus on quality, studied from the specific topic of the contest:

- Innovation and creativity in the overall project concept. - Interest in the management of the collective space. - Interest in spatial and urban proposals. - Efficiency, integrity and consistency of design. - Versatility of design in terms of adaptability and integration strategies of the proposal in its surroundings. - Image quality of the project and its relation to the proposed urban context. - Strategies adopted. - Consistency of the proposed design and functionality. - Adaptability to the environment taking into account energy balances, or productive.

14. PROPERTIES AND RIGHTS All material submitted to the contest will be part of the ContestA exposition, ContestA will have publishing rights for the sole purpose of promoting, disseminating or displaying the competition. When a proposal is submitted, ContestA will be authorized to publish the project in both print and digital editions, always mentioning its author / s. The panels may be modified to suit the format of the publications.

15. CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION By registering for the Contest, participants immediately formalize the unconditional acceptance of these rules and final decisions of the jury. Participation in the contest generated so the submission to the above conditions.

The jury, by majority vote, is the only authorized and responsible for the final choice of the winner of this competition and choice will be considered as final.

Because participants agree to sign the final decisions of the jury, we will reply as jurors, are exempt from any possible claim in case of an architect or team of architects is not in accordance with final ruling.

The organization may declare void if there is not a minimum of 40 participants, in which case the inscription pay will be returned to each team , not including the costs of the transfer. If not witheld payment for the cost of registration will not be returned.

This contest has not been charged by any institution or private agency.
