To reduce the impact of Domestic Abuse, particularly violence against women and girls.

To reduce the impact of Hate Crime

To improve engagement with local communities across the Constabulary area

Domestic AbuseDomestic Abuse

More than 1 in 4 women will experience domestic abuse often with years of psychological abuse

This is potentially 78,399 females across the Force Area 12,899 in Darlington 65,500 in Durham

The financial cost of violence against women and girls in the UK is £37.6bn

Domestic AbuseDomestic Abuse I am personally committed to

implementing the Government’s “Call to end violence against women and girls” action plan. Specifically:

Preventing such violence from happening by challenging the attitudes and behaviours which foster it and intervening early where possible to prevent it;

Providing adequate levels of support where violence does occur;

Working in partnership to obtain the best outcome for victims and their families; and

Taking action to reduce the risk to women and girls who are victims of these crimes and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.
