Religion in the Roman Empire

Adopted many religions from Egyptians, Gauls, and Persians.

Rulers only banned a specific religion if they felt it was a political issue, in this case it was Judaism.

While in Roman rule the Jews rebelled for the right to practice their own rituals and beliefs

In the end the Jews were forced out of their territory and had to move on.

Origins of Christianity

Jesus of Nazareth is the man who many people believed was the Jewish Messiah.

Jesus’s parents are Mary, Joseph, The Holy Spirit and God

Jesus learned to be a carpenter and spread his teachings of Judaism through out the world

Jesus was arrested while spreading his teachings and later was crucified.

For the next forty days he taught his disciples his own beliefs and soon after was taken to Heaven.

The Early Christian World

Christianity is originally from Judea. Romans disagreed with the ideas of

Christianity and tried to put an end to it. Teachings were to only be spread/taught to

Jews. In the effort to spread their beliefs many

Christians were arrested or killed. Emperor Constantine was the main person

who encouraged Christianity to become the official religion of Rome
