When I think of Summer in Paris, I am reminded of all things warm and vibrant. Drinks on the terraces and Parisian streetsempty of locals but full of tourists from around the world.

The creation of Paris’ artificial beaches, Paris-Plages, where sand meets the Seine.

It would not be summer in Paris without a visit to the famed Berthillon ice cream shop on Ile Saint Louis Island with fresh flavors of mango and fraise.

We have filled this issue with refreshing summer inspirations and a team of new writers and photographers to bring you only the best of what Paris has to offer!

Uncover the lesser-known hotspots with our Uncharted Paris feature on the Saint-Martin Canal.

Take a look inside the Nomadic Gal-leries of Paris with Carolyn Smith. Be inspired by the true story of one woman’s passion to help others find their talents and pursue their dreams in Paris as we interview life coach and writer Dawn Bournand of My Paris Story.

We sit down with Paris designer and world traveler Marjorie Renner to take a look at her nature-inspired chic hand-bags.

Lastly, we go inside the life of Madame London as she takes us inside her saucy shenanigans and shows us a more lustful side of Paris.

Living the Dream

An Interview with Marjorie Renner

esigner Marjorie Renner has spent years traveling the world and dazzling us with her fashionable accessories, but most notably her

handbags.

Each bag is inspired by all things natural, including seashells, mother-of-pearl, animal pelts and tropical woods. We sat down with Marjorie to hear more about her designs, feelings on family, and what she attributes to her phenomenal success!

How did you get your start in fashion? Who is your favorite designer?

My exposure to fashion started as a model when I was 18 years old - I was exposed to so many countries and fashion designers that opened my eyes to style - this was in the late 80s HIP HOP fashion and early 90s CHIC fashion. Karl Lagerfeld is the ultimate icon in the fashion industry. He has a vision of style and fashion.

What made you move to Paris?

FAMILY is the foremost reason for moving to Paris. My husband, Chris Renner, has been in the sports industry and his job brought him to Paris and elsewhere around the world. As an obedient wife and a mother of three children, I am the glue to the family. We can not live without each other.

Tell us a little about yourself. Where are you originally from? What does your business produce? How long have you been in Paris?

I am Filipino - American and I moved to Paris in June 2010. Prior to that I have lived in Manila, Hong Kong, London, Los Angeles and Beijing. Marjorie Renner is a Paris-based brand for accessories (fashion jewelries, clutches, and handbags). What makes your handbags differ-ent from other designs on the mar-ket?

The uniqueness of materials and craftmanship. My collections are all handcrafted using the natural indi-genous elements from the Philip-pines and other parts of Asia.

hen Victoire de Charette was growing up in and around Paris, she always drew, and painted too. But she never

really had a sense of the Paris art scene.

She did however do her studies in the liberal arts, with a focus on lite- rature.

Ironically, it wasn’t until she did a six-month internship in Berlin that she began to have ideas about where her love of art might lead her.

It was while in Berlin that she felt and saw how much closer contem-porary art could be to the people who love it out of the sterile gallery environment and into spontaneous galleries created in multipurpose spaces, squats, and on building walls of a gritty urban core.

Meanwhile, Pauline Daniez was growing up in the lovely Bordeaux region of Charente-Maritime. She too, loved drawing, and art and eventually did a stint at the École du Louvre.

Yet her entry to the Paris art scene was bittersweet. “I mean, Paris always made me dream, but when I arrived I knew no one.

The world I landed in was very intellectually and aesthetically sophisticated – but very lonely,” says Daniez.

“I got to walk the Pont des Arts to go to school at the Louvre every day. And eventually I did get to know Paris, and Parisians, thanks to my love of art.”

eather loves the fact that her work has a positive impact on

such an important moment in people’s lives. Whether working

together on planning their big event or small reception, all events give Heather time to develop close relationships with her clients.

Rendez-vous in Paris has a full-time professional wedding planner on their team, who handles ʺintimate wed-dingsʺ, and several interns and assis-tants that are assigned specific wed-dings each season.

France had always charmed Heather. ʺI moved here, first near

the beaches in the south, then to the French Alps in the east, and finally

to dwell among the history and culture of Paris … because of Love.ʺ

Initially, it was the love of all things French that brought Heather across the ocean as a student. Then, it was the love of one thing French (a Frenchman) that made her stay.

ʺMoving to France from the States in 2003, I realized that the wedding plan-ning industry was just budding in Europe.ʺ
