July 3- National Statistical Seminar “Octav Onicescu” Fertility in Romania between intentions and decline

July 4 – Anniversary meeting

There were granted honour, anniversary and merit diplomas to the statisticians for their professionalism and devotion during their whole activity (over 20 years), for promising results at the beginning of statistician career and for statisticians who are devoted to Romanian statistics with competence and faithfulness…

There were granted diplomas to some remarkable personalities as well as to some institutions with which INS had and has successful collaborations, for their professionalism and accuracy when using and interpreting the statistical data and information, for their contribution to the development of statistical culture in Romania (TV Money channel, Statistical Office of Moldova Republic, Economistul daily newspaper, Romanian Statistical Review, Academy of Economic Studies, National Forecast Commission, National Bank of Romania).

July 5 – Chess competition

During July 11-12, scientific seminar “Priorities of statistics after one year since Romanian accession to the European Union” took place in Targu Neamt.

Papers were presented in the socio-cultural center of Neamt monastery “Saint

Paisie from Neamt”, where the guests were received according to an old traditional custom, with bread and salt.

Statisticians from all the counties of the country and guests from local officials of Neamnt county took part in the seminar.

The seminar program comprised the detailed activities by hours and abstracts

of those 72 communications prepared by the experts. Complete communications were included in a publication having over 1000

pages on the CD.

The papers were divided into 3 sections:

It was done a top of counties by results in their activity in the last year, the first three ones obtaining “Excellence diplomas” granted by the INS president, Ph.D university professor Vergil Voineagu.

At the end of the seminar, the hosts provided the participants a wonderful trip in the area, including the visit to the monasteries Neamt, Sihastria and Secu, a boat voyage on Bicaz lake and a spectacular camp fire.
