Roman Coins from North-West England
David Shotter is Professor Emeritus of Roman Imperial History at Lancaster University.
His work on Roman coin-samples in North-West England is well-known through his writings and lectures. He has also published more generally on the history of Roman Britain and on aspects of Roman political history in the fi rst century AD.
His books include The Roman
Frontier in Britain (1996; Carnegie Publishing), Rome and Her Empire (2003; Longman), Romans and Britons in North-
West England (third edition, 2004; Centre for North-West Regional Studies) and Nero
Caesar Augustus (2008; Longman). He has also co-edited (with Peter Iles, ArchaeologicalAdvisor for Lancashire County Council) Lancaster’s Roman Cemeteries (2009; Centre for North-West Regional Studies).
