  • THIERTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

    OCTOBER 25, 2020 First Reading: Exodus 22:20-26 This passage from the book of Exodus enjoins all to adhere to specific religious and social laws. It urges all to act with justice and compassion towards others.

    Second Reading: 1 Thessalonians 1:5c-10 Paul praises the Thessalonians for receiving the word of God so eagerly and totally. Word of their faithfulness has spread throughout Macedonia and Greece; they have become a model for all Christians.

    Gospel: Matthew 22:34-40 Matthew recounts the incident in which a lawyer, seeking to entrap Jesus, asks, “Teacher, which commandment of the law is the greatest?” With simplicity and authority, Jesus responds that the first commandment is to love God with one’s entire being; the second is to love one’s neighbor as oneself.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +2021 ANNOUNCED MASS BOOK+

    The Mass Book for 2021 will be on Wednesday, October 28th at 9:00AM in the meeting room. . Due to the popular demand for Announced Intentions, we request your cooperation in limiting your initial request to SIX MASSES per family only three of which may be on a Saturday evening. The requested stipend is $15 for a weekday Mass and $25 for a Sunday/Holyday Mass. + In fairness to all, The Sanctuary Lamp is limited to three requests per family. Sign-up sheet will be in this week’s Sunday bulletin. + Memorializing the Tabernacle Candle or the Altar Wine & Hosts for Sunday and weekday masses is also an option. The name of the person being memorialized will be printed in the Sunday bulletin each week just as we do for the Sanctuary Lamp.

    + PARISH ALL SOULS NOVENA OF MASSES+

    We will begin our “Month of All Souls” by offering up a Novena of Masses on All Souls Day and continuing throughout the week. The Novena will be offered up for all of our departed loved ones whose names have been returned to us in the special ALL SOULS envelopes. These envelopes, containing the names of our loved ones, will remain on the altar throughout the entire month of November. Envelopes are still available at our exit doors for those who did not receive them in the mail. “Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord and may perpetual light shine upon them…”

    + PARISH ANOINTING +

    MASS SATURDAY, OCTOBER

    31st - 12 NOON

    “Are there people sick among you? Let them send for the priests of the Church and let them the priests pray over them anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise them up. If they have committed any sins, their sins will be forgiven them.” James 5:14-15. The sacrament is provided by the Church for those whose health is seriously impaired by sickness or old age. Anyone who is seriously ill is eligible. In old age, almost any illness takes on a serious nature. A person may also receive the sacrament prior to a serious medical procedure. Come to me all who labor and are heavy burdened….and I will give you rest. ____________________________________________
