RE ESO 1 1. What is a church? It's the place for public worship. The building where people worship. It's the community of Christians. People who go to church 2. He is called: the bishop of Rome, the vicar of Christ, St Peter's successor, chief of the Church, Holy Father, His Holiness, Pontiff. 4. Parts of a Roman Catholic church. - the altar (a table where the priest offers bread and wine). It's the focal point in the church. It's used for Holy Communion. There are candles on it. The candles mean Christ is the Light of the world. - the font (a place for holy water.
