• It is the most famous chapel of the Apostolic Palace of the Vatican City, the official residence of the Pope. It is the right of the Basilica of San Pedro and originally served as a chapel of the Vatican fortress. Originally known as Cappella Magna, it takes its name from Pope Sixtus IV, who ordered its restoration between 1473 and 1481.
