• Database upgrades have been made
• Raspberry Pi has been loaded with the software in order to boot up and wait for remote inputs
• Implemented log in page and switches to interface with GPIO pins
• The PCB for the Power Supply and Switching Component have been designed and will be fabricated this Thursday.
Work Performed to Date
• The code for the MSP430 switching circuit and power reading is complete with the ability to wait for a signal from the Raspberry Pi
• Simulations of the Power Supply and Switching component have been performed.

Power Supply Schematic/ PCB Design
Power Supply with Switching Component PCB
Challenges and Changes• Instead of a Shunt Resistor, a Hall-Effect current
sensor will be used for circuit isolation.• Smaller PCB Design using different
Transformerless supply schematic.• X-bee modules have had interfacing issues• For more efficient data storage within the
application, we have made the change from an archiving technique to using Core Data
• Testing has revealed bugs in the iOS data model. The problem is known, but we have yet to find the solution
What’s Left• Connecting iOS application to interface with the
Raspberry Pi database• Interfacing with X-bee between hardware and
software• Printing out the current sensing and switching
circuits• Connect these PCB boards to the MSP430, Xbee
and Hall-effect Sensor.• Testing synchronization between database and
web-connected devices• Testing all elements within the system working
together
What’s Left• Output from the Hall-Effect Sensor must
be adjusted to be compatible with MSP430
• All PCB’s must be soldered and arranged for most compact design
• Housing for the Plug-In’s must be designed and fabricated after PCB arrangements have been decided.
Gantt Chart
Final Presentation• Two separate wall Plug-Ins will be set up with
devices connected• Main Hub will be self starting and set up with an
Ad-Hoc router• An iOS device along with laptop will
demonstrate home automation capabilities along with power monitoring• Being able to demonstrate the convenience of
scheduling devices and logically pairing them
