NEW OFFICERS TRUSTEE Ted Mischuck '47, has been elected

president of Rollins Alumni Inc., by the board of directors. Richard Bald- win, '38 is the first vice-president, Jeannette Dickson Colado '27 second vice-president, Robert O. Harland Jr., '50 secretary and Thirza Fluno Bisson '32 was re-elected treasurer.

Five new members of the Board of Directors, elected to serve for three years are Edwin Granberry, '50, Ro- bert O. Harland, '50, Jeannette Dick- son Colado '27, John A. Baker, '53 and Mary Martin Hayes '55.

T'T^i: the VirtsrH are Thirza Fluno Bisson '32, Robert B. Colville '26, Frances Daniel Divine '39, Edward A. Johnson '49 and Wa- nita Dean Mutispaugh '35, whose terms will expire in 1959.

The five remaining members of the board who will serve until 1960 are: Richard O. Baldwin '38, Barbara E. Cheney '44, William Frangus '51, Ted Mischuck '47 and Robert S. Witherell '51.

J. Campbell Thompson '24, was nom- inated as Alumni member of the Rol- lins Board of Trustees for the next 3 years, replacing Dr. Florence M. Stone '18. The two other Alumni members are Henry Lauterbach '37, whose term will expire in 1959 and Bryant S. Pren- tice, Jr., '37 who will serve until 1960.

Retiring members of the Alumni Board of Directors are William J. Brant '38, Robert Burhans '29, John A. Fluno '37, Alice M. Egan '52 and Anne Knight Tennis '50.

BACCALAUREATE The Rev. Lyman B. Greaves, gradu-

ate of Rollins College with the class of 1938, will deliver the Baccalaureate Sermon Sunday. June 1, at Knowles Memorial Chapel. His subject will be "Living Now and Then". Winner of the Sullivan Medallion at his gradua- tion, "Bus" has been rector at Christ Church in West Englewood, N.J. since 1955. He was graduated from the Epis- copal Theological School, Cambridge, Mass. in 1939.

REUNION PICTURE

The 1958 reunion is over. It was a great success. A picture story of the three day program is being prepared and will appear in the next issue of the RECORD. It will be in the mail in a few days. Preparations by mem- bers of the anniversary classes, the fours and nines, already are under way for next year. The anniversary classes are guests of honor but ALL ALUMNI are invited to take part in the three day celebration each April, marking the anniversary of the grant- ing of a charter to Rollins College by the State of Florida. Mark the date on your calendar.

Dr. J. Campbell Thompson class of 1924, has been nominated to the Board of Trustees of Rollins College. He will represent the Alumni on the board for a term of three years. An Orthopaedic surgeon, he is Surgeon in Chief at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. He and his family live at 4 Avon Road, Larchmont, N.Y.

FULBRIGHT John O. Rich, '38, Director of Ad-

missions since 1949, has been named for a Fulbright grant to teach English in Athens, Greece for the academic year, 1958-59. The grant includes a summer grant to the University of Michigan where he will participate in a seminar on teaching of English. Tra- vel expenses and subsistence for his wife and three sons is included. He will be in Michigan from July 7 to August 15, and in Athens from Sep- tember until June.

DR. FORT RESIGNS Dr. William Fort, professor of phi-

losophy and psychology for the past 17 years has resigned, and will become president of Deep Springs College Deep Springs, Calif. After completing his 17th year at Rollins this June, he will leave to assume his new duties.

SENIOR BREAKFAST

The traditional Alumni-Senior Breakfast will be held Friday morn- ing, June 6, at 6:30 at the "Old Family Tree" on Lake Virginia. Follow signs from the corner of Osceola and Henkel Circle. Reser- vations at $1.00 each will be taken at Alumni House through Tuesday, June 3. Alumni, Faculty and Staff are urged to attend.

CLASS OF 1958 The class of 1958, 109 of them, will

become members of Rollins Alumni Inc., Friday, June 6, when they file past President Hugh McKean '30, to receive their diplomas from Rollins College.

Commencement activities begin of- ficially with the All-College dance by the Student Association honoring the graduating class, Saturday night May 31. Baccalaureate Service will be Sunday, June 1, in Knowles Memorial Chapel. The Reverend Lyman B. Greaves, a Rollins Alumnus of the class of 1938. who is Rector of Christ Church, West Englewood, N.J., will deliver the Baccalaureate Sermon, "Living Now and Then".

Commencement day will begin with the Annual Alumni-Senior Breakfast at "The Family Tree' on Lake Virginia. This Commencement Day activity is one of the oldest traditions of Rollins College and Alumni, Faculty and Staff are hosts to the graduating class at their last affair as undergraduates.

Admission to the Chapel for the Commencement Exercises will be by senior card only until after the aca- demic procession is seated.

A note from Sara Moses Dean says: "I was 77 years old Dec. 26, 1957. I'm interested in our new Congregational Church and the Golden Age Club. I'm thoroughly enjoying life and my health is excellent."

Jesse Pedrick Baker (Mrs. John G.) appeared as soloist with the Florida Symphony Orchestra in Orlando in mid March, playing the brilliant sec- ond Piano Concerto of Franz Liszt. Jesse is living at 615 East Cherokee Drive in Orlando.

'25 Kenneth Sutherland writes that *J in July of 1957 he was promoted

to captain, U.S.N.R. He was one of 155 Selected from 968 applicants. In De- cember of '57 he was elected Commo- dore, Douglaston Yacht Squadron on Long Island Sound. In January of this year he was promoted to Marine Sup- erintendent of the United States Lines, which operates 56 ships, including the SS America and the SS United States to Europe, Australia and the Far East. His second son Bruce received his BM degree at the University of South Car- olina this year and will work for his MM at the University of Southern California.

Lois Bartlett Tracy continues to dis- play her paintings in various exhibi- tions. Her Gulls - Fishnets on display in the Southeastern Annual Exhibition last fall took second prize. She exhibited two oils in the New York National Show, Art U.S.A. '58, and an- other large oil in the National Audu- bon Exhibition in the National Acad- emy early this year.

A note from "Boots" Weston Tuttle from Miami. "My daughter, Judy, who was at rollins in '50-'51 just had her second son, William Tuttle Usher, and I am the most obnoxious grandmother imaginable. I carry pictures and every- thing. As for myself, I've won three $100 poetry prizes in the last couple of years, and some smaller ones. Only one so far in 1958, $50 for a lyric. My biggest thrill was getting first prize at the Poetry Society of America in October."

Our own Dr. Allen Spitzer had quite an article published in the January issue of the Anthropological Quarterly, published by the Catholic University of America Press, Washington, D.C. It was entitled "Notes on a Merida Par- ish." Allen has been teaching in Mexico and Yucatan recently but his mail still goes to 3745 Lindell Blvd., St. Louis, Mo.

Next April 24-25-26, we will celebrate the Silver Anniversary of our gradua- tion from Rollins. It's not too early to put this weekend on your calendar.

Pat Horine Haswell (Mrs. A. B.) was elected president of the Alabama Fed- eration of Music Clubs at the annual convention of that group recently. She has been a member of the state board for eight years. She lives in Birming- ham where her address is 8 Beech- wood Road.

Bob McEwan, director of McEwan's Clinical Laboratory in Orlando, re- cently was promoted to Major, USAF Reserve Laboratory Officer. Bob, with his wife and two children, lives at 420 Cherokee Drive in Orlando.

A long and interesting letter from Eli Haimowitz from 1370 Avenue of the Americas, New York City. He was married last November to Leonore Kantor of Plainfield, N.J. and NYC. He has been studying and playing in New York since his return from Korea and his M.S. from Juilliard. He plans to go to Europe next Fall as soloist with an orchestra and do some recitals.

Emanuel Ehrlich tells us that last fall he became Administrative Assist- ant and Director of Student Services at the Graduate School of Education, Yeshiva University in New York City.

Frank Barber is with Eynon Com- pany as a salesman in Birmingham, Mich., where his address is 2183 Man- chester Road.

Aggie Chalker Watson (Mrs. H. J.) writes: "Jack and I have just built a house. We painted it ourselves and have been in it about four months and still haven't finished. Everything in- side is paneled (we're tired of paint- ing). It takes a long time when you 'do-it-yourself. Jack teaches and coach- es football, some adult classes at night too. We have a wonderful three-year- old and are extremely happy in gen- eral. Duncan, 14, loves to fish and hunt." Her address is Route 4, Box 142, Jacksonville, Fla.

Carl Reaves has been appointed principal of the Zellwood Elementary School in Orange County, Florida. He also is president of the Orange County Classroom Teachers Association.

Dixon Yard is instructor of English in the Bi-National Center in Monter- rey, Mexico. The Center has a student body of 1100 and they are at present trying to raise a 4 million peso build- ing fund for permanent quarters. They recently presented the San Antonio Symphony Orchestra in a series of three concerts.

Don Hansen has been elected presi- ident of the Driver Education Associ- ation of Florida and also is Driver Education Director and Civil Defense Director for Highlands County, Flori- da. He and Alice (Voorhis) have four children and live at 209 Hatcalani St., Sebring, Fla.

Bill Shelton, besides representing TIME Inc., as Florida correspondent, the first state to have a full time cor- respondent, also covers the state for Life, Fortune, Sports Illustrated, Ar- chitectural Forum and House and Home.

Terri Weaver Cofield (Mrs. James) writes: "Still working in Admissions Office at W.C.U.N.C. In February ap- peared as female lead in Greensboro Little Theatre production of "The Rainmaker". The friends and classmates of June (Nelson) Glatthar and Virginia ('55) Nelson will be sorry to hear of the death of their father, W. W. Nelson, April 19, 1958.

The tenth anniversary of our grad- uation will be celebrated next April 24-25-26. Let's all plan to come back to the Campus then. Plans by local members already are being made.

Dale Travis Busche (Mrs. Robert) tells us that they have moved from Philadelphia to Aiken, S.C., just 14 miles northeast of Augusta, Ga., where husband Bob has a position with E. I. DuPont de Nemours & Co., as an en- gineer.

Bill Fricke has a new home at 1508 Grant Road, Northbrook, 111. Being a KA he has tried to get it changed to Lee Road with no success! We're glad to have him back on our mailing list again.

We extend our sympathy to Linda Falls Vail (Mrs. George) whose father, Leo Falls died in Orlando, March 17 1958.

Ralph Hunt is in his second year as teacher at Pensacola Junior College, where he is an instructor in humani- ties. He got his M.A. from Stetson in '54 and went on to F.S.U. where he held an assistantship while doing fur- ther graduate work.

We hear that Dan Pinger has been released from military service and is back in Cincinnati on the staff of the Enquirer. He edited a guided missile publication while in service. His ad- dress is 712 Garden Road, Cincinnati 36, Ohio.

Wally B. Moon is connected with Empire Studios of Orlando and was an assistant art director for the pro- duction "Naked in the Sun" and plans to go on location in the Dominican Republic with Beck-Hugh Produc- tions Inc., as art director for "Banana Boat," which will be in color. His ad- dress is 532 Magnolia Avenue, Daytona Beach, Fla.

Howard Kelly is a realtor in Winter Park and recently moved into new offices at 152 Park Avenue.

Had a letter recently from Ray Bur- chett. He owns part of a 40 foot boat which he plans to sail in the Mackinac Island Race this summer.

Tally Merritt, who received her M.A. in Radio and TV from Stanford last year, is now an account executive with the Art Blum Advertising and Public Relations Agency in San Francisco. She still finds time to serve as college chapter counselor for the Phi Beta chapter at Stanford and San Francisco State College.

Announcement has been made of the appointment of Avrum Abramowitz as special agent to represent the Equit- able Life Insurance Society of the

U.S. in the Orlando area. He was grad- uated from the University of Maryland in '55 and now lives with his wife Barbara and daughter Linda at 613 Anderson St., in Orlando.

Joe Dallanegra, who came to Rol- lins because he did not like winter weather in New Jersey, has been trans- ferred to the ASA base at Thule, Greenland, where temperatures range from 10 below to a high of 35. His base has steam heated pup tents and is only 150 air miles from the North Pole.

An interesting letter comes from Paul (Pablo) Ackerman from Amster- dam, Holland where he is attending the University of Amsterdam School of Medicine. He tells us that class- mate, John T. Greene also is attend- ing the Amsterdam School of Medicine and with his wife Ann (Palmer '55) is living at Beethovenstraat 99 V. Pablo says: "Living here in Holland is a wonderful experience. Quite different from dear old Rollins College. The three of us are planning to attend the World's Exposition in Brussels this summer. Should there be any Rollins students visiting Europe this summer, we would like to have them visit us. Best regards to all." Paul's address is Banstraat 3, Amsterdam Z, Holland.

Dave Vevera writes that he has ac- cepted a new position as Flight Test Engineer, Test and Development, with Convair Aircraft Corp., at Cape Can- averal. Mail however still reaches him at his home address, 613 Highland Avenue, Orlando.
