The Teacher Pledge: I understand the importance of the school experience to every child and my role as a teacher and model. I have high expectations that every child will reach a high level of achievement. Therefore, I agree to carry out the following responsibilities to the best of my ability:

I will use high-quality curriculum and teaching strategies to enable your child to meet the state’s academic achievement standards.

I will teach all the necessary concepts to your child before regular homework is assigned.

I will strive to be aware of the individual needs of your child.

I will regularly communicate with you regarding your child’s progress, including an annual parent-teacher conference.

The Student Pledge: I realize that my education is important to me. It helps me to develop the tools I need to become a happy and productive person. I also understand that my parents want to help me do my very best in school. I know I am the one responsible for my own success, and that I must work hard to achieve it. Therefore, I agree to carry out the following responsibilities to the best of my ability:

I will arrive at school, on time every day (unless I am ill), ready to learn and work hard.

I will be responsible for my own behavior and be a cooperative learner.

I will return completed homework on time.

The Parent Pledge: I realize that my child’s early years are very important, and I understand that my participation in my child’s education will help his or her achievement and attitude. Therefore, I agree to carry out the following responsibilities to the best of my ability:

I will provide a quiet place for my child to study and ensure that he/she completes assigned homework.

I will see to it that my child arrives at school on time every day with adequate sleep.

I will spend at least 15 minutes per day reading with my child.

I will attend Back to School Night and Parent Conferences.

I will participate, as appropriate, in activities and decisions relating to the education of my child.

ROLLING HILLS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CODE OF CONDUCT

2017 - 2018

I WILL: 1. Arrive at school no earlier than 7:55 a.m. as there is no playground supervision prior to that time. 2. Stay on school grounds during the day unless I have adult permission to leave. 3. Grades 3 - 5 only: Complete a Student Bicycle Permit, lock my bicycle in the bicycle rack during school

hours and walk with it on school grounds. 4. Leave my skateboard, scooter, roller blades (in-line skates), and skate shoes at home. 5. Repair or replace any school or personal property I damage. 6. Leave toys / playthings at home. 7. Wear my hat / hoodie only when I am outdoors. 8. Remember NOT to chew gum at school.

ON THE PLAYGROUND I WILL: 1. Stay on the playground during recess and lunch times, use the restroom appropriately, and walk quietly

in the hallways. 2. Keep balls with the game or at the court until the end of recess. 3. Go down the slide one at a time, in a sitting position facing forward. 4. Count to 30 when waiting for my turn on the swings. 5. FREEZE when the bell rings, then walk quietly to line up when the playground supervisor blows the

whistle. 6. Stay off of the backstops, banks, fences and trees. 7. Remember NOT to play tackle football, chase, karate, violent games or have chicken fights. 8. Remember NOT to kick, hit, push or fight; play with sharp, pointed objects; throw rocks, dirt or sand;

deface school property; or use profanity or make unkind remarks. 9. Remember NOT to bring personal equipment (footballs, baseballs, bats, tennis balls, etc.) or any

electronic equipment (games, cell phones, radios, CD players, etc.) from home.

IN THE LUNCH AREA I WILL: 1. Walk in the halls to the lunch area. 2. Wait for friends at the lunch tables, not by the kitchen door. 3. Sit and eat for at least ten (10) minutes. 4. Never share food or drinks with other students. 5. Keep all food and drinks in the lunch area. 6. Use an inside voice while in the lunch area. 7. Remember NOT to throw food, squirt juice, or pop bags, milk or juice cartons. 8. Pick up my trash and raise my hand to be dismissed to the playground.

AT ASSEMBLIES I WILL: 1. Enter and leave assemblies in an orderly manner with my teacher. 2. Sit where my teacher directs me. 3. Be quiet when the speaker asks for my attention. 4. Be courteous to speakers or entertainers and not talk, whistle, boo, or be rude in any way. 5. Stay seated until excused from the assembly.

ROLLING HILLS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

WALKING TRIPS PERMISSION FORM

2017-2018

We are fortunate to have the local park right next door to our campus to extend our learning

beyond the classroom. At various times throughout the year, our teachers will take their

classes on walking trips to the park for additional learning experiences. The permission slip

below will give approval for your child to participate in these walking trips. Please sign the

bottom portion of this sheet and return to the school office along with your other

registration/enrollment paperwork.
