We are happy to announce that
our
Primary
school started again
this year
on
the
first
of
July.
We
a re thankful
tha t we
were able to
secure
a newly t ra ined
teacher
to
take
charge. She
is
capable
and
interested
in th e
welfa re of the
c hild re n. S in ce o ne
of
our te ac he rs
had to be
moved with her hus
band
to
Hamirpur, sh e
has start
ed a smal l school there. Six chil
d ren
a re in a t t endance I f i t
were not for her labors, four of

would
not
be
in s choo l.
Happiness and S adne ss
During
May one of our orphan
girls
was married in
Ragaul. It
was
during the hottest of
summer,
so a fte r making
the
arrangements,

went
to
the
hil ls
and left
the
giving
away of the girl
to
her
daughter ,
Miriam the nurse.

was
very
fine.

began this article,
I wish
to
thank each of you
for
your
pray
ers
and gifts. May God bless each
of you.

left by airplane from
Bombay on April 14, and
arrived
in
Rochester, Minn,
on April 16.
I have
been
discharged from the
Mayo a i n i c af te r tests.
I
was told
that I am
in
good physical condi
t ion
now,
but tha t
I
should have
rest
and quiet.
I do
get
better
res t here on a
fa rm in this coun
t ry
Just now I leave
future
plans
with God.
I
am not in financial
need now
as my parents
are
pro
viding food and home for me,
but
the
mission
does
need
money to
continue
support
of the native
evangelists.
Helping in Primary
School
The
fourth t ime
I went
down
to
help with
the work. I was feeling
so much stronger that I began
to
help
in the small
primary school in
which two
Indian
Christian moth
ers
were
te ac hin g. C la sses
were
only held in the
morning, begin
ning about
7 A.M. I started
by
checking the younger children s
arithmetic. Because
they
write
each on his
own small
slate, the
teacher
must
check
the lesson
as
soon
as possible so that
it
may
be erased and
the child
may con
t inue
writing
his
lessons. I
was
ra ther slow a t this since the In
dian
system
of weights
and money
is so
much different from ours and
I had not learned their multiplica

enjoyable

said, This is a big day;
we are happy , so

they
knew
the meaning

the
Big
Day (Christmas). They re
plied that
Jesus
was
bom.
Then since
Easter was
coming
soon, we spoke of the death and
resurrection. Together we sang in

school

new one
was added

them
will be finishing

year, and

begins
his
second
year.

about fourteen
years
old
when
he
w as
conver ted He has

trials
and trouble and

clares
continually that he will nev

Lord,

Christ.

Baptisms
During April one of
our
young
men in
the
community
accepted

Bible
College,
but as
he
has
not
had sufficient schooling
to
be
able
to keep
up
with o ther s,
we
are
sending him back
to
High
school to get
his
education. Then
we
t r u s t
he wil l b e ab le
to do

work
in
Bible training.
During May
one of our
orphan
girls was
baptized
also two of
our
High
school girls.
One was
the
oldest daughter of a widow whom
we help, and
the
other the daugh
ter
of
an evangelist.
During
June
another High school
girl was baptized. She lost her
mothe r
o ne w eek
and
the
nex t
Sun
day
she stepped out
for the
Lord
whom she
has
loved
a
long t ime.

work,
workers,
and

missionaries
daily

prayer as they have prob
lems always and are in need

miles up in the hills from Beirut
so it
gave
us a chance to
see more

the
country. The
ride
in
the
ch artered bu s w a s
quite
thrilling
n arro w ro ad s winding b ac k an d
forth
edges
of
deep
ravines too
close for comfort and sharp curves
so sharp that even the little
bus
not much bigger than a station

gon had to

up
to
maneuver

around
