L01 – Developing Safety Applications Using the GuardLogix® Integrated Safety Controller Platform: In this lab, learn how GuardLogix® Integrated Safety Systems support intermediate level to complex safety applications – using a single controller and programming environment for safety, discrete, motion and drive functions, and with seamless connectivity to plant-wide information systems.
L02 – Applying Basic EtherNet/IP Features in Converged Plant-wide Ethernet Architectures: EtherNet/IP enables both seamless plantwide information and convergence of industrial and non-industrial network traffi c, while maintaining real-time communication for control applications. This hands-on lab covers various techniques, best practices, software and products using EtherNet/IP with Stratix® switches.
L03 – Applying Advanced EtherNet/IP Features in Converged Plant-wide Ethernet Architectures: EtherNet/IP enables both seamless plant-wide information sharing and convergence of industrial and non-industrial network traffi c, while maintaining real-time communication for control applications. This hands-on lab covers various techniques, best practices, software and products using EtherNet/IP. It demonstrates Network Address Translation (NAT) in Layer 2 and Layer 3 architectures, VLAN segmentation and Connected Routing. Prior understanding of general Ethernet concepts is recommended.
L04 – FactoryTalk® View Machine Edition and PanelView™ Plus: Introductory Lab: This hands-on lab focuses on basic FactoryTalk® View Machine Edition concepts for new users. Topics include creating an application, working with displays, global objects and tags, using parameters, testing and running the application and language switching. See how features like search and replace tag and text, tag cross-reference and more, can help you to get more work done in less time.
L06 – Studio 5000® View Designer Featured on The PanelView™ 5000 Graphic Terminals: Learn how to increase productivity with the new Studio 5000® View Designer software and PanelView™ 5500. This lab will introduce you to topics such as setting up a project, creating screens, animating graphic elements, setting up navigation, setting up basic security and downloading to a terminal. The lab will also cover new capabilities like language switching and Add-on Graphics (AOG).
L07 – Micro800® PLC Programming with Connected Components Workbench™ Software: This self-paced lab teaches how easy it is to program and confi gure a small standalone machine using the latest Connected Components Workbench™ software. The control solution will consist of a Micro800® Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), a PowerFlex® Drive, and a PanelView™ 800 HMI. Programming of advanced HMI and PLC features, including TCP/UDP sockets, is also available.
L09 – Developing Safety Applications Using Guardmaster® 440C-CR30 Confi gurable Safety Relay: You’ll learn to use the Guardmaster® 440C-CR30 Confi gurable Safety Relay to support small to intermediate safety applications. Built to meet PLe/SIL 3 requirements, featuring 22 embedded safety I/O and a USB port, the 440C-CR30 is confi gured with Connected Components Workbench™ software. An EtherNet/IP module can communicate diagnostic information to Logix controllers.
L10 – Speed Integration: CENTERLINE® MCCs, Studio 5000® Logix Designer and IntelliCENTER® Software: Experience the ease of integrating CENTERLINE® Motor Control Centers (MCCS) with EtherNet/IP and their associated components to PowerFlex® drives and E300™ Electronic Overload Relays. Streamline your workfl ow by leveraging the simplifi ed integration of IntelliCENTER® software and Studio 5000® Logix Designer to simplify device confi guration and reduce commissioning time and errors.
L11 – Integrated Motion on EtherNet/IP: High Performance Architecture Lab: This hands-on lab showcases how our new high performance architecture takes integrated motion on EtherNet/IP to the next level. This session will be based on the new ControlLogix® 5580 controller, 5069 Compact I/O™ and Kinetix® 5700 servo drives and demonstrates how they combine to boost motion performance to unprecedented levels.
L12 – FactoryTalk® View Site Edition and FactoryTalk® ViewPoint: Introductory Lab: If you are new to FactoryTalk® View Site Edition and FactoryTalk® ViewPoint, this hands-on lab allows you to learn about the basic capabilities and features of a FactoryTalk® View SE application for both desktop and mobile. You will build a simple application from the beginning. Topics include creating an application, adding displays, working with tags and animations, basic alarming, trending and mobility. This lab will give you a solid understanding of how a View SE HMI application works, how you can extend it mobile devices.
L13 – PlantPAx® MPC: Optimization in the Logix Controller for Easy Deployment: The operational benefi ts realized from Model Predictive Control (MPC) are generally well understood. However, MPC can also have a signifi cant impact on the eff ectiveness of plant resources from operation managers and process engineers to plant operators. This lab will familiarize users with the Rockwell Automation server- and controller-based MPC solutions that help to improve overall production line operations, including the implications for plant personnel.

L14 – Introduction to PlantPAx® Process Control System for Operations and System Engineering: This lab examines the PlantPAx® system within a simulated plant environment through the eyes of an operator or system engineer. As an operator, learn about navigating and interfacing with key system functions in a utilities and batch area. As an engineer, execute simple confi guration changes and add a new control strategy using the Rockwell Automation Library of Process Objects.®This session provides basic familiarity with the PlantPAx® system.
L16 – Studio 5000® and Logix Basics Lab: Are you new to Logix programming or want a quick refresher on the basics? This session will provide an overview of the core capabilities that are off ered in Studio 5000® and highlight the importance of good design practices. Mastering these fundamentals will ensure a good design and prepare you for the advanced session.
L17 – Studio 5000® and Logix Advanced Lab: So you’ve got the basics, now let’s take it to the next level with this advanced Studio 5000® and Logix session. This pick-and-choose lab will allow you to explore topics of interest and quickly see how capabilities add the most value to your design. By the end of this session, you will be on your way to becoming an expert.
L18 – PowerFlex® Drives Confi guration and Programming: Learn how to quickly and easily confi gure PowerFlex® AC drives. From the built-in human interface module, to Connected Components Workbench™ software or the Rockwell Software® Studio 5000® Logix Designer, we provide you with powerful, intuitive tools to help enhance your user experience and reduce your development time so you can deliver machines faster and more effi ciently. Finally see how Automatic Device Confi guration can help save valuable time to get your machines back on line faster.
L19 – Integrated Motion on EtherNet/IP: Learn how to confi gure, program and commission a CompactLogix™ 5370 controller with integrated motion on EtherNet/IP using the new Kinetix® 5500 servo drives and PowerFlex® 527 variable frequency drives.
L20 – Solve Your Application Challenges with New Sensing Solutions: In this session attendees will use the latest Allen-Bradley® sensing technologies to solve a variety of challenging applications. We will also introduce the Rockwell Automation below Ethernet strategy which utilizes IO-Link enabled technology to provide seamless visibility of fi eld devices through the Rockwell Automation Integrated Architecture.®
This hands-on lab includes:
• Background suppression – detect dark targets on light background
• Clear object detection – sense a clear label on a bottle and detect clear fi lms
• Registration control – detect diff erent color marks on various backgrounds
• True color recognition – diff erentiate between colors
• Distance measurement – use long distance laser measurement and ultrasonic sensing for tension control
• Small object detection – apply fork sensors and fi ber optics
L22 – Deploying PlantPAx® to Thin Clients with ThinManager: In this lab, attendees will discover how thin clients using remote desktop services can simplify the scaling, deployment, and maintenance of a PlantPAx® System using FactoryTalk® View Site Edition. Learn how to extend these functionalities with the unique capabilities of ACP ThinManager.
T01 – Data Management and Reporting Made Simple: The
integration of control data (live and historical) with business systems is
critical in today’s manufacturing environment. The seamless integration
and access of this data in a form that provides decision-making capabilities
is crucial. Rockwell Automation helps deliver that seamless integration with
the latest releases of FactoryTalk® Historian and VantagePoint – featuring
synchronized methodology for collecting, maintaining and analyzing
process data at each level of manufacturing operations.
T03 – New Security Features Help Reduce Risk in Your Industrial
Control System: Learn how you can reduce risk and enhance protection
of your industrial control system against security threats. Discussion and
demonstration will focus on practical recommendations for installing,

T10 – Smart Devices – Helping Design, Operate and Maintain
The Connected Enterprise: Smart devices (sensors, starters, drives,
overload relays, power and condition monitors, safety components and
scanners, etc.) deliver real time control and information that feeds up
through your smart connected plant. This session will take a look under the
hood and give an overview and demonstration of some of our smart “edge”
devices and show how they can help during the design, operation and
maintenance of The Connected Enterprise.
T22 – Arc Flash Hazards and Arc Resistant Equipment –
Understanding Standards and Solutions: Uncover the “how-to”
of implementing arc resistant equipment within typical industrial or
commercial facilities. This workshop off ers insight into several practical
aspects of procuring and applying arc resistant equipment including
NFPA 70E highlights, arc fl ash basics, a review of arc resistant equipment
including the PowerFlex® 7000 and arc assessment services.
T24 – Improving Productivity Using Contemporary Safety Designs:
Contemporary safety standards and designs provide for both safety and
improved productivity with alternative means to traditional lock out/tag
out procedures. This session will review these techniques including safe
speed monitoring, safe direction, zone control and others, as well as system
diagnostics that reduce downtime.
T29 – What’s New in Logix: Learn what’s new in our Logix control
platform. This session will cover advances in control and I/O platforms for
high performance machine control.
T30 – What’s New in Visualization: Discover new solutions that help

with OSHA and other national or international safety regulations. Safety
should not be an afterthought, but rather a part of the initial design. The
functional safety lifecycle dictates the full life of the machine or process,
from conceptualization, good design practice, functional requirements,
safety system design, verifi cation, installation, validation and the
processes to manage change. It is an iterative process that you will come
back to often.
CT302 – High Tech Industry Forum – Evolution from PLC to Open
Controller Systems Running C# in .NET Framework: The high tech
industry is known for its abundance of very talented programmers and
engineers who can develop systems from scratch using tools such as the
C# in the .NET framework and custom greenboard controls. However, as
competitive pressures increase products have to be brought to market
faster. In this session we will discuss and demonstrate techniques to both
keep costs low and reduce your time to market by taking advantage of new
off -the-shelf automation systems that have open connectivity to high level
languages such as C#. We will introduce our new CompactLogix™ 5480
platform which has both a Logix core and a Windows 10 Enterprise core on-
board; we will also demonstrate various methods to connect C# applications
to existing controller families.
CT303 – Food and Beverage Industry Forum – Constructing an
Intelligent Factory: Information is key in optimizing yield,
throughput and energy usage while running a factory in the food
and beverage industry. In this hour-long forum, industry experts from
Rockwell Automation will walk through how leading manufacturers in
the food and beverage industry have deployed intelligent control and
information systems to improve operations and maximize asset effi ciencies.

CT304 – What’s New in PlantPAx® 4.0 and PlantPAx® 5.0 Sneak
Peek: This session will provide an overview of the PlantPAx® 4.0 release.
New process engineering productivity tools will be reviewed including
Studio 5000® V24 features, Studio 5000® Architect PlantPAx® quick start
templates, new process libraries and process strategies and new PlantPAx®
virtual image templates. A new PlantPAx® system checklist and verifi cation
tool will be introduced to verify system performance of an existing system
or after new system deployment. New application and infrastructure step
by step deployment guides will also be introduced. Finally, we will provide
a sneak peek of PlantPAx® 5.0.
CT305 – Denso Robot Integration with Next Generation Logix
Controllers: As technology evolves and reduces in cost, the number
of applications that justify robotic systems is increasing rapidly.
Rockwell Automation will discuss how Denso robot systems integrate
into current and upcoming Logix controller families. As the controller
platform from Rockwell Automation evolves from PLC (Programmable Logic
Controller) to PAC (Programmable Automation Controller) to IPC (Industrial
PC-based Controller), the Logix multi-discipline control environment paired
with an on-board Windows 10 Enterprise core allows for a single integrated
controller to host robot commands and vision software. With our
integrated development environment, users can minimize diff erent
development environments for machine automation, robotics, and vision
systems. Users can program, maintain and troubleshoot in one common
programming language.
CT306 – Asset and Maintenance Optimization – Increase Plant
Uptime via Improved Inventory and Predictive Maintenance
Programs: This session will review modern predictive maintenance
programs and special technologies that allow you to view asset health
in a real-time online dashboard, and leverage predictive analytics to put
together a highly effi cient preventative maintenance program to increase
plant uptime. We will also review modern inventory programs that help
ensure you have the optimal amount of critical spare parts to maximize
machine uptime while reducing carrying costs, storeroom programs that
improve accuracy and reduce spending and repair programs that will
improve reliability and reduce costs.
CT307 – Thermo Systems – Chiller Plant Optimization with
Integrated Architecture®: Aging automation infrastructure is creating
the need for non-proprietary and robust integrated controls for our district
energy facilities. Replacing antiquated DCS systems while leveraging
aspects of the existing asset management provides the opportunity to
develop a full integrated system to govern, monitor, upgrade and optimize
chilled water facilities spanning from instrumentation all through billing.
CT308 – Banks Integration Group – Gilead's Greenfi eld Pilot Lab
Process Control System Uses PlantPAx® for Life Sciences: Gilead
Sciences is one of the world’s largest research-based biopharmaceutical
companies that discovers, develops and commercializes innovative
medicines. The company recently constructed a new six story 193,000
square-foot research and development laboratory located in Foster City, CA.
Working with Banks Integration Group, Gilead implemented a
Rockwell Automation PlantPAx system to monitor and control three
reactor suites and associated utilities and vendor-provided TCU skids.
CT309 – Design Group – Consumer Goods Producer Leverages
Integrated Line Control to Improve OEE: RAPID is standardized
line control integration, data collection and reporting solution from
Rockwell Automation. Based on Logix controllers, FactoryTalk® View SE
HMI and FactoryTalk® Metrics OEE supervisory software, the RAPID solution
provides a standardized AOI interface to diff erent machine types and OEE
reporting is almost automatic once the line integration is completed.
Working with Design Group, a consumer good producer was able to reduce
time of line integration and report development, access real-time line
performance information, and access stop events, root cause data and
historical data.
CT410 – Grantek Systems Integration – The Connected Enterprise:
A Data-Driven Approach to Safety and Productivity Improvements:
Best-in-class manufactures recognize that worker safety and operational
excellence are equally paramount in today’s competitive marketplace.
This session will dispel the myth that improving worker safety impedes
productivity and will demonstrate ways to improve safety compliance,
assess operator behavior and estimate ROI for machine safety projects,
using data already available in your control system.
CT411 – Machine Builder Forum – Building Next Generation Smart
Machines: There are many buzz words in the industrial automation
industry these days, such as Industrial Internet of Things. Machine builders
need to make these visions a reality in their next generation machine
designs in order to stay competitive. In this session we will provide a
practical overview of smart machines and how current and upcoming
technologies can help achieve those goals. Some smart machine topics we
will cover include high performance machines, plug and play smart devices,
plug and play machines, safe machines, secure machines, secure intellectual
property, modular and reconfi gurable machines, predictive machines and
adaptive machines.

CT412 – Advantages of Active Front End Drives vs. 18 Pulse Drives
to Meet Low Harmonic Requirements: With renewed emphasis on
the energy savings and performance benefi ts for large motors that can
use VFDs, increasing concern for the harmonics they create has led users
to look for “low harmonic” options. The conventionally accepted solution
for applications 250HP and above has been to use custom phase shifting
transformers ahead of “multi-pulse front end” drive designs. After a decade
or more of creative solutions to their packaging challenges, the long term
reliability issues created by those solutions have users looking for an
alternative. This session will provide a brief background of harmonics and
what can been done about it, then provide an in-depth explanation and
side-by-side comparison of the strengths and challenges of the two leading
technologies available now for higher HP drives; the more familiar 18-pulse
solution and our new PowerFlex® 755-TL Low Harmonic Active Front End
(AFE) drives.
CT413 – Concept Systems – Creating Collaborative Fanuc Robot
Cells with GuardLogix Integrated Safety Systems): In the world
of collaborative robotic work cells, there are many ways to keep workers
safe. In this session, learn which options are available and how to evaluate
what is best for your requirements. Concept Systems will present leading
collaborative robotic solutions from Fanuc as well as present
methodologies for making standard robots “collaborative”
with the use of Rockwell Automation safety solutions.
