ROCKS

OF WHAT ARE THEY MADE UP? They are made up of more than one mineral .

DO THEY HAVE CRYSTALS? No they haven´t, they don´t

have crystals.

ARE THEY PRETTY? No they aren´t . Minerals are more

beutiful than rocks.

DO THEY HAVE A DEFINITE SHAPE? No they haven´t . They don´t have

a definite shape.

IS THEIR COLOUR THE SAME? No it isn´t . The colour is not the

same.

DO THEY HAVE FOSSILS? Yes they usually have fossils.

OF WHAT ARE THEY MADE UP? They are pure (made of the same

sustance).

DO THEY HAVE CRYSTALS? Some have crystals

ARE THEY PRETTY? They are usually pretty.

DO THEY HAVE A DEFINITE SHAPE?

They usually have a definite shape

IS THEIR COLOUR THE SAME? Some minerals have the same

color.

DO THEY HAVE FOSSILS? They don´t have fossils.

WHAT ARE THEY?

ROCKS ARE…….. Cluster of minerals and other

inorganic material.

MINERALS ARE........... Structed crystals with specific

chemical components.

TYPES OF ROCKS

INGENEOUS ROCKS ARE FORM……… When lava of volcanoes cools and

hardens

INGENEOUS ROCKS An example is granite and basalt

SEDIMENTARY ROCKS Layers of other rock fragments or

fossils, which compact in millions of years

Example: clay, limestone or sandstone

METAMORPHIC ROCKS Ingeneous and sedmentary rocks

are pushed down by other rocks and then extreme heat “beakes” them.

Example:marmol

TYPES OF MINERALS

PURE MINERALS They are called elements because they

contain only one component.

Example: diamonds

SULPHATES MINERALS They are fragileland and contain

sulpher.

Example:gypsum.

OXIDES MINERALS They contain metals and oxigen.

They vary in cobur and hardness.

Example: rubies
