Additional Advanced Econometrics training taken: An advanced econometrics course of 72 contact hours taken at the London School of Economics and political science (LSE) in the United Kingdom from July to August 2011. The course presented an advanced treatment of econometric principles for cross-sectional, panel and time series data sets considering both linear and non-linear models.

A 120 Hour course in Financial Econometrics taken at the University of London, School of Oriental and African Studies in July to August 2010. The course covered recent approaches in the theory and practice of financial econometrics with an emphasis on time series econometrics.

A full day workshop on survey data analysis using STATA which included data coding and entry, variable generation, summary statistics, graphing, hypothesis testing, correlation, regression analysis and interpretation, given by Qdata Enterprises, 31st March, 2012 in Nairobi.

On the MBA programme I am involved in teaching the Theory and Practice of Negotiations, Global Economics, International Finance, Financial Management, Investment management Strategies and Quantitative Analysis. I also teach the global environment and negotiations on the executive programmes at Strathmore Business School. This involved implementing a nation-wide innovation survey of over 300 firms, performing econometric analysis of the survey data and preparing a report with major conclusions and policy recommendations based on the data analysis.

January 2013: Organised manufacturing focus groups for the furniture, food processing and chemical sub-sectors as a part of a study on manufacturing competitiveness in Kenya being undertaken by the World Bank.

Providing commercial information for both Kenyan and Spanish firms to facilitate bilateral trade, coordinating Spanish commercial missions to Kenya, undertaking market studies on various sectors of the Kenyan economy, dealing with aspects of Spain’s development assistance to Kenya, undertaking translations relating to Spanish/English texts, facilitating the undertaking of joint ventures between Kenya and Spain. Assisting in the preparation of economic and political reports on countries in the East African and the broader Horn of Africa and Great Lakes Regions.

From April 1998 to December 2000: Head of Commercial Section, Embassy of Chile in Kenya.

Responsibilities: Undertaking market studies, preparing periodic economic reports on the state of economies in the East African region, organizing promotional activities for the marketing of Chilean export products, establishing contacts between Kenyan and Chilean businessmen to enhance bilateral trade and

investment, drafting bilateral co-operation agreements between Chile and economies in the region, facilitating the undertaking of joint venture investments between Chile and countries in the East African region, arranging to receive high level public and private sector delegations from Chile. In this capacity I traveled to Chile, Uganda, and Tanzania.

Consultant for Financing Sector Deepening (FSD) Kenya to undertake the development of a training curriculum for the National Treasury and all financial regulators in Kenya including the Central Bank of Kenya and the Capital Markets Authority. The consultancy was carried out between May and July 2015.

The lead consultant for a six month consultancy with the World Bank Group requiring the implementation of an innovation survey among firms in the formal

sector in Kenya. This involved implementing a nation-wide survey, performing econometric analysis of the survey data and preparing a report with major conclusions and policy recommendations based on the data analysis. The consultancy work lasted until the 30th of June, 2013.

Consultant for the Business Delivery Secretariat programme with the Ministry of Industrialisation and Trade which is expected to improve Kenya’s Ease of Doing Business Ranking. The consultancy is ongoing until March 2015.

Prepared the curriculum for a Master of Public Policy and Management at Strathmore Business School in 2012. This involved getting the necessary approvals and engaging with relevant stakeholders in the public sector, Non-governmental and private sectors. This programme was officially launched on July 14th 2013 and commenced in September 2013.

Initiated a quarterly economic analysis breakfast for CEOs of leading Kenyan companies to review local, regional and global economic trends. The first CEO Breakfast was held in June 2015 and continues to be held quarterly.

Initiated, designed and am currently the Programme leader of the first financial econometrics executive training programme in the East African region as part of Strathmore Business School Executive Education.

Initiated a monthly meeting for heads of commercial sections of different diplomatic missions based in Nairobi in March 2000 as a forum for sharing experiences of trade and investment promotion in the East African context.

While at the Embassy of Chile I played a role in initiating and consolidating the growing market share of Chilean wine in the East African region. Chilean wine has in recent years ranked in the top five in market share in the East African region.
