The Grand is the completion of the Robert Ross and Charles Pack Trail as one hike. Parking is near the gate for Greenwoods Road ( 41° 55' 21.74" N 72° 59' 43.75" W ), 0.8 miles north of rt. 181 on East River Rd. Hike up the road, turning left at 0.2 miles into an area behind the Nature Museum. The trail sign for the Robert Ross Trail, a blue blaze (B) starts there along with the Agnes Bowen Trail, a blue blaze with an orange dot (B/O). Ascend this double blazed trail to 0.4, turning left to follow only the B trail up the hill. At 1.1 pass King Road to continue on B. At 1.6, make a quick right, then a quick left turn to stay on the B, as you cross the B/O trail. At 2.0, the B trail takes a 90° right turn to merge with the Jessie Gerard Trail (blue with yellow dot blazes, B/Y). Follow this double blazed trail over a bridge (2.1) & at 2.3 make a 90° right turn at the sign pointing to Warner Road. Leave the B/Y and continue on the B to the end of Warner Road at 2.4. You completed 100% of the Robert Ross Trail. Follow Warner Road, making a left turn at the junction with Greenwoods Road (2.8). At 2.9 turn right at the sign for the Charles Pack Trail, blue blaze with a yellow dot (B/Y). Turn left at Beaver Brook Road (3.4) and a quick right after the bridge to follow B/Y up a hill & cross Pack Grove Road (3.6). The B/Y climbs slightly then bends back to cross Pack Grove Road again (4.1). At 4.2, you will pass on your left, the stone foundation from the Colonial Era farmhouse shown in the photo. At 4.6 pass on the right, a charcoal mound from the 1800ʼs. At 4.7 watch for the 90° right turn of the B/Y, followed by a bridge crossing, & the junction with the B/O at 4.8. Continue straight, turning right onto Greenwoods Road (4.9). You have completed 100% of the Charles Pack Tail. At 5.0, turn left onto King Road, which ends at the junction with the B trail (5.3) you were on earlier. Turn left to follow the B back to the Nature Museum (6.1) and your car (6.4). Mileage summary: Follow B ending at 2.4 > go east on Warner Rd to 2.8 > turn left on Greenwoods Rd > turn right onto B/Y at 2.9 > B/Y ends at 4.9 > turn right on Greenwoods Rd, then left on King Rd > at 5.3 return to B > at turn left back to your car at 6.4 .
