• Roald Amundsen arrived at the South Pole, December 14, 1911, with 4 sleds and 52 Samoyed dogs. He returned home to Fremhiem, January 25th , 1912.

• Roald Amundsen went to Antarctica because he wanted to locate the South Pole. His expedition was successful.
