Roadmap monthly newsletter
Editorial
e are very proud of Frotcom’s new
website. Have you checked it?
We decided to change to a lighter, more
dynamic site, with options for visitors to watch videos about
the solution, try Frotcom for themselves and get in touch
with Frotcom Certified Partners.
Additionally, special sections were created for specific activities. For instance,
visitors active in international road transportation will now have information
about typical benefits related to that area of business.
This was complemented with new information about Frotcom’s accessories and
optional modules, too.
One of the most popular links on
the site allows visitors to download
a guide, “10 tips for better Fleet
Management.” It contains simple
recommendations which can be
useful to any fleet manager, be it a
large fleet with dedicated fleet
management or a small company
with only a couple of vehicles.
At the end of the day, our goal was to have information about Frotcom more
easily available to visitors. Judging from the nice comments received from
customers and visitors in general, the goal was clearly achieved.

New Certified Partner
Frotcom now in Croatia
Frotcom International and Modus Altera d.o.o. have recently embarked on a
partnership for the foundation of Frotcom Croatia.
The company Modus Altera was founded in 2011 with the purpose to operate in
the Croatian market of vehicle tracking and fleet management. In pursuit of a
solution that would help them grow and expand, the company chose Frotcom
Vehicle Tracking System which, in their opinion, thoroughly matched their needs
and expectations.
According to Marijo Uroic, CEO of Modus Altera, “In
my previous work I experienced the use of GPS satellite
monitoring of vehicles and so we looked forward to
the idea of incorporating a vehicle tracking system in
our plan of development. When we met Frotcom
International we immediately decided that they were
the company that will help us achieve our objectives.
We are sure that partnering with Frotcom is a big opportunity for us to develop
and soon gain a respectable position on the Croatian market.”
Nuno Liñan, Marketing Director at Frotcom International said that “It is our
great pleasure to have Modus Altera as our new Frotcom Certified Partner. We
foresee a long lasting and rewarding collaboration that will help both our
companies achieve the expected results. We will offer Frotcom Croatia our full
support and we are confident that they will be successful on the Croatian
market.”
ROADMAP welcomes Marijo Uroic and the Frotcom Croatia team on board and
wishes them successful operations.
Some words about Croatia
Situated along the east coast of the Adriatic Sea, Croatia
serves as a gateway between Western and Eastern Europe.
Croatia is a member of the United Nations, the Council of
Europe, NATO, the World Trade Organization and CEFTA. It is
classified as an emerging and developing economy by the
International Monetary Fund and a high income economy by the World Bank.
>Capital: Zagreb >Currency: Kuna >Language: Croatian
>Population: 4,290 >Territory: 56,542 sq. Km >GDP: USD 78.090 billion
Did you know?
In Frotcom you can see the
path followed by more than
one vehicle
The Multiple Tracking feature makes it
possible. In order to see this happening,
go to Fleet > Map, then choose Map
Options and select the vehicles for
which you want to see the paths.
The selected vehicles will be displayed
on the map showing their paths as blue
tails.
This feature can be useful to compare
the paths followed by several vehicles.
Overlapping paths can mean, for
instance, that two vehicles are
travelling along the same roads when
only one vehicle would be enough for
that transportation or service.
On the other side, when two vehicles
with the same start and end points are
travelling on different roads, it can
mean that at least one of them is not
using the shortest route.
By showing these vehicle trails
simultaneously, this sort of analysis is
simpler to achieve.

Tip of the month
Vehicle clustering
Vehicle clustering is mostly useful for
large fleets, where it is very hard to see
all the vehicle icons on the map,
especially when it is zoomed out.
All you need to do is first set Use
clustering in Fleet > Map to ON, in Map
Options.
Instead of showing neighbor vehicles
piled up on top of each other, Frotcom
will display a single cluster icon
indicating the number of vehicles in
that neighborhood:
The cluster symbols mark the positions
of groups of vehicles which are close to
each other. The number on the cluster
symbol indicates how many vehicles are
in that cluster or group.
To see the vehicles inside each cluster,
just zoom in.

Frotcom in space!
On September 20, 2011, a team of Slovenian
engineers and enthusiasts, under the auspices of Audi
Slovenia and as a part of the campaign for the new
Audi A6 Avant, launched a stratospheric balloon into
space to an altitude of over 25,000 meters. The probe
was equipped with two cameras, radar, so that
aircrafts were able to avoid the probe, and a Frotcom
GPS tracker. The tracking device was needed for the
landing location of the probe. As soon as the probe landed, Frotcom Slovenia
forwarded them coordinates and in no time the probe was found.
We already knew that Frotcom was a product out of this world, but finally we
have the proof! To watch a video of planet earth taken by this probe during the
journey in space, check out http://youtu.be/FD0Fn4X8EhQ.
