Use of UN Vehicle

• Defects in vehicles to be reported immediately

• No signals (blue lights), emblems or flags on UN vehicles

• Unauthorized use of UN vehicles strictly prohibited

• UN vehicles for mission operational use only

Driving – Before Taking off

• Assess Security– Security alerts or updates

• Plan the Trip– Maps, communication, registration

• Inform all Concerned– Route, ETD, ETA, stopovers

• Avoid to Travel Alone

Driving – On the Road

• Speed according to conditions• Keep your distance from other vehicles• Avoid driving in the dark• Communicate• Know accident and breakdown procedure• No unauthorized passengers• Take guide or escort if in doubt

• Wear safety belt and protection equipment

• Stop your vehicle immediately (not in hostile area)• Give first aid to any injured parties• Notify Unpol/Local Police if necessary • Do not sign any written report or statement to local

police• Identify yourself

Traffic Accident - Action• Notify the nearest UN office by radio/phone• Secure your vehicle• Do not move the vehicle until the police and

investigating UN security officer arrives• Accident reports in duplicates• Report all,

even the smallest damage

To be Advised 1• It is stressed that a driver transporting an

unauthorized person in a UN vehicle does so at his/hers own financial risk, and may have to bear, in addition to disciplinary action, financial responsibility in case of an accident involving injury or death of his/hers passengers
