Glendale Raptors v Santa Monica Dolphins images: vande
Glendale Raptors edged closer the PRP ordering seat with definit ive 59-19 victory over
vis it ing Santa Monica Dolphins on Saturday in the Kettle. Temperatures in the teens did
nothing to hamper the vitality of sport on display as the home team claimed five match
points in the nine-try bonanza.
Dolphins kicked off the Colorado Premiership continuum and spent the f irst f ive minutes
deep in Raptors territory, pounding away repeatedly at Raptors defensive sets, but the
home side held their l ine and one whiff at the sticks was to be the LA-area side’s only early
reward.
Fullback Dust in Croy l inked with outside center Chad London, bringing action into Dolphins
territory and into their 22. Two smashing phases by the host forwards and a swift sl ing by
halfback Crawford Miller enabled wing Max Statler the merest advantage and that was all
that man required to claim Glendale’s init ial home try of the inaugural Pacif ic Rugby
Premiership season; with f lyhalf Mike Graham’s conversion, 7-nil Raptors in the ninth
minute.

Raptors were shortly back for more as Statler covered a hack forward and streamed into
goal for the touch down that put the home team up by a dozen at the 13t h minute.
Dolphins had a second missed penalty as the pil l banged off the right post, but the travelers
were able to real ize joy short ly afterward when a penalty awarded by referee, Marc Nelson,
at Raptors 10 meter l ine for not releasing at tackle brought a Dolphins forward rush up the
short side and inside the home team’s business district . Bl indside f lanker, Phi l l ip Osborne,
crashed through for his try converted by f lyhalf, Matthieu Lesgourgues, and 12-7 the call
with one quarter of the match recorded.
Graham added three more to Glendale’s tally with a penalty conversion struck from 22
meters outside the r ight post: 15-7 at minute 21.
Glendale were back in the Dolphins frame quickly and Crawford’s delivery saw Croy f i l l the
l ine and shrug off a would-be stopper en route to his grounding: 20-7 homeboys after 26.
Much action between the 22s heading into halft ime, but the vis itors were able to breach
Raptors defense for a try before Nelson’s halft ime signal when backrow lock, Joe Kil lefer,
competed a surprise, quickly-tapped penalty and its subsequent forward rush with a
grounding that brought the scores to: Glendale 20 and Santa Monica 15 as lads were gone
to lockers at the midpoint tweet.
Graham got three more for Raptors with a sticksplitter just after the re-start: 23-15 at 41.
Glendale broke the match wide open with back-to-back dots by f ive-eighths Chad London
and another by the fullback Croy in a six-minute interval by the 55t h minute: with two-from-
three converted by the Glendale standoff it was 42-12 and the Kettle roiled with the rugby.
Another three trys: Croy and Statler getting their hat-tricks while replacement three-
quarters Phil White got the f inal dot, two completed by Graham, made the tall ies 59 and 12
before Santa Monica were able to cross and ground on an interception score by
replacement front row, John Corr, just before t ime: Lesgourgues good with the added deuce
and a result of 59-19 to Glendale at Nelson’s last whistle.

Isles for Glasgow Aspen and USA Eagles 7s standout, Carl in Isles, is set to burn a path the length and breadth of European rugby as he has penned a deal with Glasgow Warriors through next year. Isles has been touted the fastest man in rugby, and he very well may be, but how well he is able to transfer 7s ski l ls to the 15s game wil l be interesting to see. The dynamic speedster, who l ists at 5’8” and 165 pounds, has also signed (Dec’, 2013) with Detroit Lions in the NFL as a member of the Lions off-season and/or practice squad. He is by no means unused to manifesting impressive form in a variety of sporting endeavors. But basically Mr. Is les is very fast with highly effective f ine and gross motor skil ls.
Isles wil l look to slot into coach Gregor Townsend’s squad speedy-as-you’d-l ike with Canadian f lyer, DTH van der Merwe, and Scotland’s Sean Maitland out injured for the remainder of the season. And no one who’s viewed any of the many Isles’ YouTube appearances can doubt either the man’s abil ity or his intent.
Isles brief-though-dynamic, two-year, rugby career has been fostered by Aspen RFC’s Andy Katoa and fast-tracked by the USA 7s program.

Ireland v Italy at Lansdowne Road
Tough ask for the Azzurri in Dublin, especially with Ireland looking to put the memory of Twickenham from their frontals; and the home side require victory to keep in the running for the Six Nations crown; and Ireland are near automatic at home: recipe for upset? RA call: Ireland 35, Italy 14;
Scotland v France at Murrayfield
Les Bleus were upended last time in the Islands and they’ll be looking to exact a form of revenge on their hosts Saturday; Caledonian fortunes will either remain on the upswing after the emotional win in Rome, or stumble and stagger under the weight of the multi-dimensional France assault; however, a spotty performance yet again by the travelers and the Murrayfield faithful will have reason to rejoice; RA call: Scotland 20, France 22;

England are driving the 6Nats bus just now; and Wales are headed straight for them in the opposite direction
