EDITORIAL

Swami SupradiptanandaPrincipal, Ramakrishna Vidya Mandir (CBSE) Gwalior.

It gives us a great satisfaction to share our quality education initiatives and the vision with the students, teachers, parents and well-wishers.

Ramakrishna Vidya Mandir is celebrating 55th Annual School Day today on 2/12/2017 from 5.00pm. We welcome all the stakeholders to witness the student's performances and encourage them on path of positivity.

1. This year we deliberated upon starting a magazine which will showcase the students thoughts and their dream about future India. We collected their thoughts to be published as “Nirmaanam”, a school magazine. On further deliberation idea emerged in our mind, why not “Nirmaanam” should be a E-Magazine, which could save the printing paper and ultimately trees. It also aliens with the “Digitalization” the dream project of our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji. Today we are happy to share digital copy of “Nirmaanam” with the society. We presume it should be the first of its kind in this region.

2. The school digitalization is also on the move. This year we have introduced 60 nodes of N-Computing System in the Computer Laboratory and Administrative Offices.

3. Softwares like E-Tech School Management, Tata ClassEdge, Words Worth English Listening, Speaking Software for better understanding and pronunciations of English Language, Sanskrit Learning Software were introduced in school.

4. Tatal ClassEdge Mobile App downloaded by our teachers help them to prepare lesson plans at any convenient time throughout the day. Teachers are available 24x7 for the students to help them to get any update regarding school activities, homework, syllabus etc through Whats' App and Mobile SMS.

5. “Billey Kidzy” in the name of Swami Vivekananda, dedicated by Union Minister, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar Ji, an unique kindergarten of its kind has been added to the school. It has a separate, closed campus with CCTV servelience, Tata ClassEdge Hardware/Software and specially trained faculties who can feel the Childs inner thoughts and aspiration. Today Billey Kidzy students are going to have first experience in their life to perform

before a large audience.

6. Renovation Work of Computer Laboratory, Administrative Office, Reception Room, Three Teachers Rooms, Audio Visual Room for seminars and workshops, Classes 10, 11, 12, Incubation Center, S.U.P.W., Music, Sports rooms could be accomplished with our limited resources.

7. On the academics side various online, offline competitive exams viz International Olympiads in English, Science, Maths, Sanskrit, G.K. National Talent Search Exams practices were organized in the school itself so that students need not have to go elsewhere.

8. A Number of resource persons visited our school to give the exposures to the students to help them choose right carrier suitable to their psyche.

9. To imbibe the spirit of cleanliness “Sevlon” team has conducted a workshop to teach basic things about cleanliness, health and hygiene.

10. Teachers were encouraged to undergo various training session within and outside of school campus to update their knowledge and skills.

11. Meditation, Yoga, Sports and Psychological Counseling to the students, parents, teachers has become the part of School Activities.

12. This year we have conducted a massive Yoga Workshop for School Children and General Citizens on 26/12/2017 at Ramakrishna Vidya Mandir (CBSE) Play Ground. We received a huge response. Total 1200 students participated from 32 different schools along with the citizens. All were given a T-Shirt and Snacks.

13. To imbibe the spirit of discipline, dedication, nation building, culture and ancient heritage various initiatives like Tulsidas Jayanti, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti, Childrens Day, Swami Vivekananda Tithi Puja, Shri Ramakrishna Dev Tithi Puja, Maa Sharada Devi Tithi Puja, Ganesh Puja, Durga Puja, Kali Puja etc are conducted with devotion within the campus. Citizens also participate in it.

“Be Pure And You Will Have The Power” says Swami Vivekananda. We are literally experiencing it in our daily activities as more and more strength is coming out within our students and teachers to fulfill “Nation Building”, a pet dream of Cyclonic and Worrier Monk Swami Vivakananda.

I pray to Holy Trio viz Shri Ramakrishna, Maa Sharada Devi and Swami Vivekananda to bestow their choicest blessings upon all of us is our earnest prayer.

"Success comes to those who work hard and stays with those, who don't rest on the laurels of the past."We live today in a world that is so very different from the one we grew up in, the one we were educated in. The world today is changing at such an accelerated rate and we as educators need to pause and reflect on this entire system of Education. Are our schools well equipped to prepare our children to face the challenges that the future holds?

Questions such as these are factors that motivate us to go through a continuous process of reflection and hence we at RKVM work at implementing a well balanced curriculum to ensure that the children who walk into our school will not just love their school years but truly be prepared to face life's challenges. It was Margaret Mead who said “Children must be taught how to think, not what to think,” and to enable this, our motto of Knowledge, Imagination and Innovation is encouraged through a holistic approach. "TO MOTIVATE THE WEAK, TO ADDRESS THE AVERAGE AND CHALLENGE THE GIFTED" is the teaching vision of our school.

Aristotle once said that, “Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.” Even as we impart education to match the advancement in technology and globalization, we march our children ahead with RKVM's ethos of moral values and principles. We endeavour constantly to instill these qualities in our children. We pride ourselves to help them grow and develop into sensitive and responsible citizens of the next generation.

Each issue of our school magazine is a milestone that marks our growth, unfolds our imaginations, and gives life to our thoughts and aspirations. It unleashes a wide spectrum of creative skills ranging from writing to editing and even in designing the magazine. I congratulate the entire editorial team for their hard work and dedication.

A committed and supportive management, dedicated teachers, caring and co-operative parents blend harmoniously to create a child-centric school. It is natural to find in this ambience, the intensive use of a variety of thinking activities, strategies and group dynamics so that the classrooms become alive.

Teamwork is the hallmark of RKVM. I am very sure through collaborative effort we can achieve more to benefit our students who are the future leaders of tomorrow.

An Outline Of the Programme

“The Awakened Citizen Program” is a three year graded value education for students of classes VII, VIII & IX developed by Ramakrishna Mission, Delhi. The program consists of 48 modules of 40 minutes each - 16 modules for each class. The content of the program and the training materials are available both in Hindi and English. The program is completely secular without any religious overtones. The entire program is based on Swami Vivekananda’s definition of education that “Education is the manifestation of perfection already in man”. This in effect means that each individual has infinite strength, infinite potential, infinite possibilities etc. All these can be manifested as excellence in every walk of life. The aim of the program is to empower students in a real and tangible way and help them develop as enlightened citizens enabling them to stand on their own feet. Such students will not only do well for themselves but will also have the larger interest of the society at heart.

Ramakrishna Mission has been working in the field of education for over 100 years with a special focus on value education. The “Awakened Citizen Program” was launched in 2014 and draws from the experience of previous value education programmes conducted by Ramakrishna Mission, Delhi. The teaching methodologies and curriculum framework have been carefully designed to enable a deep and enduring transformation in children.

The “Awakened Citizen Program” is based on the message that each one of us, carries within, an infinite source of power, strength and goodness. This power and strength can be felt, every time we say "I can". This infinite power gets manifested as various possibilities. The more we consciously develop or manifest these possibilities, the more faith we develop in ourselves. The Awakened Citizen Program is designed to help discover and manifest the infinite power within each one of us.

a) Universal Possibilities : These are open to each one of us irrespective of religion, caste, age, gender, education, family background.

b) Unique Possibilities : These can be developed based on our talents, interests, environment and self-effort. The Unique Possibilities have been further classified into Knowledge Possibilities and Physical possibilities.

Through various explorations, situation analyses, discussions and real life examples, the students discover the tremendous impact of manifesting these possibilities and the means to do so. The emphasis is on opening the minds of the students, giving them a framework for decision making, enabling the discovery and acceptance of values and bringing about an inner transformation.

The program is currently running in over 1600 schools across Delhi NCR, Bhopal, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mysore, Baroda, Ranchi, Mumbai, Varanasi, Jhunjhunu district (Rajasthan), Gurgaon, Faridabad, Palwal and Jharjhar districts of Haryana. More than 5,000 teachers have been trained in different phases of the programme. The program has received incredibly positive feedback from students, teachers and parents alike. Increased confidence, belief in their inner potential, improvement in academics, better rapport with teachers, treating people of lower social standing with respect and living harmoniously with others are some of the areas where a significant impact on the students has been observed.

CHILD LABOUR

Not all children in India are lucky to enjoy their childhood. Many of them are forced to work under inhuman conditions where their miseries know no end. Though there are laws banning child labour, still children continue to be exploited as cheap labour. It is because the to authorities are unable to implement the laws meant to protect children from being engaged as labourers.

Unfortunately, the actual number of child labourers in India goes

undetected. Children are forced to work is completely unregulated

condition without adequate food, proper wages and rest. They are

subjected to physical, sexual and emotional abuse.

Causes of child labour :- Factors such as poverty, lack of social security, the increasing

gap between the rich and the poor have adversely affected children more than any

other group. We have failed to provide universal education, which results in children

dropping out of school and entering the labour force. Loss of jobs of parents in a

slowdown, farmer's suicide, armed conflicts and high costs of healthcare and other

factors contributing to child labour.

A widespread problem :- Due to high poverty and poor schooling opportunities, child

labour is quite prevalent in India. Child labour is found in rural as well as urban areas.

The 2001 census found as increase in the number of child labourers from 11.28 million

in 1991 to 12.59 million. Children comprise 40% of the labour in the precious stone

cutting sector. They are also employed in other industries such as mining, ZARI and

embroidery, DHABAS, tea staffs and restaurants and in homes as domestic labour.

Conclusion :- Government authorities and civil society organisation need to work in

tanden to free children engaged in labour abysmal conditions. They need to be rescued

from exploitative working and supported with adequate education. Above all, there is

a need to mobilize public opinions that will an aim to bring about an effective policy

initiative to abolish child labour in all its forms.

When the girl student reaches the age where she realises this lack of female toilets in the school she leaves her education midway. As they leave their education midway they remain uneducated. The ever increasing demand for energy cannot be met by the fossil fuels. It will lead to environmental collapse as well as utter depletion. Renewable energy sources are the best bet in the scenario. And what can be a better renewable resources than the sun? Besides, it is a renewable and clean energy sources. Taking both environmental and economic cost, solar energy works cheaper than fossil fuel resources. Once we master techniques to harness solar energy, it can be a vital source of power across the entire planet.

The rise in economic activity and the burgeoning population have led to a tremendous demand in the transport sector, especially in urban India in the near future, India's urban population is expected to grow fivefold to a staggering 200 million pollution will also grow alarmingly with this tremendous growth has emerged a very critical issue of keeping air and noise pollution in urban areas under control. The viable solution to the above mentioned problems is the use of electric vehicles on the reads. EVs will reduce pollution by 10 lakh metric tons. The government must promote and encourage people to replace their pollution causing vehicles with smart zero-emission vehicles. For this the government must make stricter laws to protect the environment. The government must also provide subsidy on these smart vehicles.

On 8 November 2016 me and my family had a train from Gwalior to Delhi. On that day at 6:00 PM we reached railway station and we get in train by 6:30. We reached AGRA by 8 PM and my father who is using mobile at that time and the news of demonestisation of 500 and 1000 rupee note. We faced many problems regarding payments of bills, but at that time digital transactions helped us. We paid hotel bills, taxi rent and could book tickets digitally.

Fuel is a material that is used in burning or heating something to produce an energy. Almost everything we use is dependent on fuel. From cooking to automobile manufacture and working, fuel plays an indispensable role. Life without fuel is almost impossible to imagine.

But unless all the people in the world conserve and use renewable sources of energy, the problems related to polluting and environmental degradation cannot be solved. Blue skies and green grass, we cannot have as long as we use excess of gas. The aftermath and fallout of the excessive use of fossil fuels has adversely affected man. Our environment is like a gigantic balloon of transparent substance in which we have our being. When this balloon was created it was filled with pure wholesome gases. However, the black and poisonous smoke from the burning of fossil fuel has damaged this beautiful balloon to such an extent that reclaiming it to such an extent that reclaiming it to its pristine purity and beauty is impossible. Man, the foolish creature, fails to see that his very existence depends on this balloon. Man perception about the indispensability of the environment must change, otherwise the balloon will burst and his own existence will end with it. It is a known fact that carbon dioxide gas released when fossil fuels are burnt, is one of the primary gas responsible for global warning. Rising in temperature of earth has resulted in melting of polar ice caps, flooding of low lying areas and rise in sea levels. If such conditions is continue, our planet earth might face some such serious consequences in near future and also harmful for plants and animals.

It can also effect badly in our economical development. Due to lack of fuel, it is being imported from other countries at a very high price. This can alter the economic development of India.

Sagacious and frugal of fossil fuels is the direst need of the hour. The percent rate at which fossil fuels are being used is quite alarming there would not be left anything for the coming generations. Now the question arises: “Are we to leave a planet totally devoid of fossil fuels to the coming generations? We will be called selfish generations, if we don't leave fuels for the future generations. We need to put our acts.

Fuel can be conserve by proper use of vehicles. Fuel consuming vehicle must not be use for near distances. Opting these methods can provide physical exercise to our body and mention our health.

Carpooling must be encouraged in a broad manner. Unnecessary filling of petrol can cause fuel wastage. Petrol must be recharged when required. Air conditions must not be only used during extreme heat. Unnecessary weight in the car must be avoid.

Saving fuel is just as important as fuel production. Saving fuel, saves our money too. Fuel conservation must be practised as a daily habit. The awareness of fuel conservation must be spread for better future. Conserve fuel for a better future.

So many people use cars only for covering a few meter distance. In reality it is not good. “Fuel is not to fulfil greed of people it is only to fulfil the needs of people we should conserve these resources we can ensure fuel by proper use of vehicles. Fuel consuming vehicles must not be used for near distances. Bicycles and walking must be encouraged. Opting these methods can provide physical exercise to our body, and maintain proper health. The burning of these fuel release excessive amount of smoke in the environment & it makes the air polluted. We can become surprised by knowing that 92% of the world population breathes polluted air. More than 5.5 million people worldwide are dying prematurely every year as a result of air pollution, according to new research. Can be think that only by doing such kinds of silly mistakes how many families become helpless, how many children’s future is destroyed. So oil is likewise called dark gold. We should think that, “If we can't fix the world's problem but we will do what we can, to make a difference where we can.”

We should prefer carpooling because we can go in one vehicle instead of 2-3 if we are going at same destination. We should turn off our vehicles at red signal. We should use CNG vehicles.

On the other hand excessive use of fuel decrease our country's economy. Due to lacking of fuel, it is being imported from other countries at a very high price. Even in petrol pumps, we find that cost of petrol is rising gradually and tactics are also played. Govt. should make some policies like there should be only one automobile in a house instead of two-three. In a week there should be two days when all the people have to travel without automobile they should walk or use a bicycle, only Ambulance should be allowed to run. Really it can reduce the global warming and also can help in conserving fuel. We should also promote literacy because if people get educated than they will be able to know the importance of fuel &its conservation. We should also aware the people to conserve fuel.

The first step towards chance is awareness. The second step is acceptance. Knowing is not enough we must apply willing is not enough we must do. If we can't do great things but can do small things in a great way.
