RITE OF ENROLLMENT LETTER NOVEMBER-GOD’S EXISTENCE In your first session, you learned how to prove God’s existence through faith and reason. 1. Do you believe that God exists? 2. How do you know that God exists? 3. Is there a reasonable argument that you can state to say that God exists? 4. Is there something from your own experience to express that God exists? Reflect and use some of your answers to express your belief in God to explain why you wish to be confirmed. DECEMBER-THE INCARNATION In your second session, you learned the importance of Christ coming into the world as a human being through scripture. 1. Do you believe that Jesus came into the world? 2. Do you believe that Jesus is the fulfillment of the covenant God made to Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Daniel, as was foretold by the Prophets? 3. Do believe that Jesus is both God and man (human and divine)? 4. What is the real meaning of Christmas? Reflect and use some of your answers to express your belief in the Incarnation of Jesus to explain why you wish to be confirmed. JANUARY-THE EUCHARIST In your third session, you learned about Christ’s sacrifice and death on the cross and how he is truly present in the Eucharist. 1. Do you believe that Jesus died and rose again? 2. Do believe that the Eucharist is the source and summit of the Church? What does this mean? 3. What does it mean to say that Christ is present at mass? 4. Why is it important to attend mass every Sunday? Reflect and use some of your answers to express your belief that Jesus died and rose again for our Salvation as well as His true presence in the Eucharist to explain why you wish to be confirmed. FEBRUARY-THE HOLY SPIRIT In your fourth session, you learned about the third person of the Trinity-the Holy Spirit and how it is through the Spirit we come to know God, understand who Jesus is, and how we are called to live our lives? 1.Do you believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of Trinity? 2. Do you believe that the Holy Spirit helps us to understand who Jesus is and who we are? 3. Have you experienced the Holy Spirit in your life? 4. What type of relationship do you have with the Holy Spirit? Reflect and use some of your answers to express your belief in the Holy Spirit to explain why you wish to be confirmed. Robert Mignella which details why they wish to be confirmed in May.The Rite of Enrollment is the formal declaration by each candidate to state their intent and desire to be confirmed in the Catholic Church. During the mass, each candidate will submit these letters. Below, are guidelines which Candidates are asked to reflect on and use in their letters.

The Priest will welcome you. Through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the priest may help you by asking questions and offering encouragement and advice.

The priest invites you to have trust in God. Together with the priest, make the sign of the cross and say the following:

+IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER, AND THE SON, AND THE HOLY SPIRIT. AMEN. BLESS ME FATHER, FOR I HAVE SINNED, THIS IS MY _________ CONFESSION.

YOU CONFESS YOUR SINS.

After listening to your confession, the priest will provide some words and propose an act of penance- an act of satisfaction for sin and for amendment of life.

PENANCEIn thanksgiving of God’s mercy the priest will give you penance.

You may be invited to express sorrow by saying the following Act of Contrition.

+GOD OUR FATHER I AM SORRY FOR ALL MY SINS: FOR WHAT I HAVE DONE AND FOR WHAT I HAVE FAILED TO DO. I WILL SINCERELY TRY TO DO BETTER. HELP ME LIVE AS JESUS DID. LOVING YOU AND EVERYONE. AMEN

ABSOLUTIONThe priest gives you absolution and invites you to praise God

+Amen

DISMISSALThe priest dismisses you by saying, “Go in peace”

DO YOUR ACT OF PENANCE, AS PROPOSED BY THE PRIEST, AFTER HE HAS DISMISSED YOU.
