Background Checks?

The benefits of comprehensive volunteer background

screening include:

• Ensure that our players are SAFE and decrease

organizational risk

• Compliance with legal requirements per OSYSA,

US Youth Soccer, State of Ohio

• Discourage applicants with undesirable profiles who

are trying to hide something or be dishonest.

Who Needs to Submit a

Background Check?

• Coaches

• Volunteers

• Anyone aged 18 or older that may on a regular basis have

unsupervised access to a child1

Process for Submitting a

Background Check

• All information about background checks and how to submit

them is contained on our website under the Forms and

Resources tab by scrolling down to the Risk Management

page.

GIGO

• Name (must be legal name)

• No aliases or nicknames (Bob, Bill) or names you are known

by (Chip)

• DOB must be accurate

• SSN – misconception about submitting your SSN
