THIS DETERIORATION OCCURS AT DIFFERENT LEVELS AND WITH DIFFERENT

RHYTHMS. THE RECOGNITION OF DEFECTS AND THEIR CAUSES HELPS TO ASSESS

THE CONDITIONS OF PAVEMENT AND TO SELECT THE RIGHT REPAIR CONSIDERING

COSTS AND EFFECTS.

THERE ARE DIFFERENT TYPES OF DEFECTS:

ON THE BASIS OF OUR EXPERIENCE, THE USE OF A SERIES OF PROTECTIVE COATING

SURFACE CAN BE AN EFFECTIVE RESPONSE TO THIS ISSUE BECAUSE, AS WELL AS TO

POSTPONE THE AGEING OF MATERIALS BITUMINOUS LAYER, IS ABLE TO IMPROVE ITS

GENERAL BEHAVIOUR, DISTRIBUTING THE STRESSES THAT ARE TRANSMITTED. THIS

TECHNIQUE- UNDERTAKEN ON AN EXISTING CONGLOMERATE BITUMINOUS COATING

CONTINUOUSLY AND REACHED WITHOUT USING JOINTS- IS DEVELOPED AS FOLLOW:

• CLEANING THE SURFACE, REMOVING REMAINS OF OILS, RUBBER AND SCALING, TO

ENSURE GOOD ADHESION BETWEEN THE OLD PAVEMENT AND THE SUBSEQUENT

COATING;

. SEALING OF JOINTS AND CRACKS GREATER THAN 25 MM WITH A BITUMINOUS

MORTAR COMPOSED OF BITUMEN MIXED WITH SAND AND / OR FILLER;

. APPLICATION OF A FIRST LAYER, WHICH FUNCTIONS AS A IMPREGNATION PRIMER, OF

SYNTHETIC RESIN SUCH AS "EPOXY-TAR", FREE OF CHARGES, SOLVENTS AND

PLASTICIZERS BUT WITH A HIGH CONTENT OF "SILANES” AND

"MONOALKOXYTITANATES” WITH SPECIAL EQUIPMENT FOR ABOUT 55 G/SQM. THE

SYNTHETIC EPOXY-TAR RESIN IS ECOLOGICAL TAR-BASED AND EPOXY RESIN WITH

AMINE HARDENING, ABLE TO FILL ANY SMALL CRACKS ON THE SURFACE OF

BITUMINOUS CONGLOMERATE WITH SEALANT FUNCTIONS;

• APPLYING A SECOND LAYER OF EPOXY-TAR RESIN AT A RATE OF 1000 G/SQM AND

SUBSEQUENT DREDGING WITH HIGH HARDNESS INERT QUARTZ BASED. THE

FORMULATION OF EPOXY RESINS WITH ECOLOGICAL TAR EXPLOITS THE PROPERTIES

OF BOTH MATERIALS SUCH AS RESISTANCE TO CHEMICALS AND THERMAL

FLUCTUATIONS AND FLEXIBILITY OF TAR.

THE SPECIAL FORMULATION OF EPOXY-TAR RESIN WAS DESIGNED TO OBTAIN:

-ADAPTABILITY TO ANY KIND OF SUPPORT FLEXIBLE BITUMINOUS CONGLOMERATE

THAT IS OLD OR NEW;

- HIGH ADHESION TO SUPPORT;

- FAST OUTFLOW OF WATER .

THE TREATMENT OF FLOORING BITUMINOUS CONGLOMERATE, AS INDICATED ABOVE,

TO OBTAIN SURFACES MORE RESISTANT TO WEATHER, WEAR AND PRESSURE,

INCREASINGLY REDUCE THE COSTS OF MAINTENANCE. WE ALSO HAVE THE ADVANTAGE

THAT THE PAVEMENT SO PROTECTED, IN ADDITION TO BEING DURABLE, ALLOWS A

DRIVING MORE COMFORTABLE, SAFE, WITH THE REDUCTION OF DAMAGE TO VEHICLES.

ALTHOUGH THE USE OF RESINOUS PRODUCTS MAY APPEAR MORE EXPENSIVE, IN THE

ECONOMIC ANALYSIS MUST CONSIDER THE IMPACT THAT THE COSTS OF ROUTINE

MAINTENANCE AND CONTINUOUS INCREASE IN PRICES OF OIL DERIVATIVES USED

TRADITIONALLY.
