Rising ActionRising action is an escalation of the conflicts introduced in the exposition. The conflict is seen more often and the consequences of the conflict are often greater.

ClimaxClimax is the point in a piece of literature where things change as a result of the conflict, and they can never be the same again. It is often the most exciting part of the story.

Falling ActionFalling action occurs directly after the climax. Other characters in the piece of literature are often told what happened at the climax during the falling action.
