“Don’t be long, come back right away,” mom says, before I walk to the well. Parents really know how to worry.“Relax” I answer, “I'm your daughter Imani Lillian Mau and I can do almost anything. Climb up to the top of a tree, count to a hundred and one, and even get water from the other side of the mountain.”

“What happened to the water,” asks mom looking down into the empty bucket.

When the corn plants on the fields are thirsty, they become the color of the sand. Their song turns into cries. They stretch their leaves towards the sky and slowly tremble together at the same pace. Just like us.

In this eye-opening picture book, we get to meet Imani Lilian Mau during days of drought and days of rain. The neighbor dad Osman Zula tricks everybody into buying special rain cloud catchers and solar collec-tors with guaranteed effect. There are days of hunger and days of play. One day, Imani is accused of stealing money, but luckily her mother takes her side. Instead of looking for justice, Imani invites the whole village to a big party where everyone gets to eat until they're full.

Ib the DogPeter Nordahl & Rasmus Bregnhøi

This is a dog named Ib. So begins every story about the charming and brave Ib, a dog with lots of ideas. Not unlike a preschooler, Ib is self-confident, curious, and has a great lust for life. But what characterizes Ib the most is his helpfulness. He lends a helping hand to all those who need it: a pig, an old lady, a fireman – even a zombie. It’s difficult not to fall in love with Ib.

Ib the Dog started out as a TV series in Denmark for young children, and has since been turned into books (published in Danish by Gyldendal), games and apps. The TV series is now being broadcast in all the Nordic countries. The books about Ib are characterized by clever humor and recognition – and are loved by children and adults alike.

A fun and colorful board book for toddlers and their adults. Who doesn't recognize the feeling of waking up in one of those moods when nothing is good?

Sometimes everything and everyone are just stupid!

Siri Ahmed Backström, born in 1980, has studied illustra-tion and graphic design at Konstfack University College of Arts, Crafts and Design. She lives in Stockholm, where she works as an illustrator and picture book author. She has written and illustrated several books, among which her own Syskondagen (Sibling Day) and Dom som är kvar (Those Who Are Left Behind), written by Karin Saler, winner of the Snöbollen prize for best Swedish picture book of 2014.

The Aunts Ebba Forslind

Today is Saturday, so I’m with mom and the little sisters and Björn. We are going to a party because Björn’s mom is old and it’s her birthday today. It’s boring at Björn’s mother’s. There’s nothing to do there and everyone just stares at the little sisters and pats their soft cheeks, but then I hear someone whistling at me from the kitchen! It’s Björn’s sisters, the little sister’s aunts. What do they want? Suddenly, it’s not that boring anymore!

A book about finding one’s place in a new family.

Ebba Forslind debuted in 2017 with the picture book Jättejättebråttom (In a Big Big Hurry), which received great reviews and is nominated for the Elsa Beskow plaque this year. Her images are easy to recognize and contrast well with her subtly humorous and poetic prose.

The third book by Anders Holmer is, just like his previous books, an explosion of color, imagination and creativity.

When nothing seems to really happen, a lot is actually going on all over the place – it’s just a matter of perspective.

Just like in the prequel, It Happens!, there is much to discover on each page, in the expressive art and playful texts.

MalouGeneviève Godbout

The little kangaroo Malou jumps everywhere, all the time. Until one day when she suddenly can’t do it any-more as a nasty, grey cloud hangs over her head.

Malou tries her best to get rid of it, but the dark cloud just keeps sticking to her. Malou is going to need cou-rage and the help of her friends to be able to kick that cloud away!

This is the first book that Geneviève Godbout both writes and illustrates.

Geneviève Godbout was born and raised in Quebec. She studied traditional animation at the Cégep du Vieux-Montréal followed by another degree at the pre-stigious school of Gobelins in Paris. Her clients include The Walt Disney Company, Chronicle Books, Tundra Books, Random House, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Les éditions Milan, Comme des Géants and La Pastèque. Jules feels different from the people he sees around him. He, for one, likes to wear two different mittens, and enjoys doing things by himself. He is most comfortable amidst the branches of Bertolt, a 250 year-old oak Jules calls his own. Hidden behind the tree’s leaves, he can play Tarzan and watch the world unfold. Jacques Goldstyn was born and

raised in Montreal. His father taught him

how to draw and he drew all the time.

Every single day. He then studied seriously,

became a geologist, and went off to work in

gold mines in Abitibi and in the petroleum

industry in Alberta. But then, one day, he

started to draw again. For many years now,

his work has been drawing cartoons for

Les Débrouillards and Les Explorateurs,

science youth magazines in French Canada.

He also writes and illustrates stories for

kids age six to 106. He loves running, hiking,

and climbing trees, and has never stopped

collecting bizarre-looking rocks.

A charming, touching story about an imaginative boy whose best friend is an old oak tree named Bertolt.

This is a rich book with many themes, as

well as much humor and sweetness. About

a boy who enjoys playing alone, this is a

story that affirms the imagination. And

because the boy’s best friend is an old oak,

it’s also a story about being an individual.

And then, because Bertolt dies in a winter

storm, it’s a story about loss, sorrow, and

acceptance as well. But mostly it’s a book

about childhood and how through play and

observation we come to know ourselves.

How Jack Lost TimeStéphanie Lapointe & Delphie Côté-Lacroix

It is possible to get lost on water, on land,or in the air.It is possible to get lostin too much noiseornot enough. It is possible to get lostpretty much anywhere, actually. And one thing was certain:it was on his boatthat Jack lost himself.

Jack wasn’t a captain like the others. He never left his boat, he even grew a kitchen garden on it to make sure to be always at sea. He wasn’t even interested in fi sh, so whenever one got caught in his net, Jack threw it back. All he cared about was to fi nd the grey whale with the scarred dorsal fi n that had swallowed up his son Julos years before. He had promised himself to never come home until he found his son. One night, a night not much different from other nights, he saw something lurking around his boat. Jack didn’t waste a moment to throw himself in the whale’s mouth and deep into the whale’s belly, but was it too late?

Poetic about loss and the choices that change one's life forever.

Look Hamlet. Hamlet not happy.

Look Hamlet is a darkly funny picture book version of Shakespeare’s classic tragedy. Hamlet is a sad teenage bunny who must deal with his mean new stepdad and his doomed love with fox-Ophelia.

With her quirky writing, ALMA-winner Barbro Lindgren has teamed up with Anna Höglund, whose moody yet sweet illustrations transform this classic tale into something new and unique.

”[...] a bold and absolutely genius picture book version of William Shakespeare’s classic tragedy Hamlet, boiled down to the smallest possible size.”

”[...] Look Hamlet is a small masterpiece, and it makes you cry out for more interpretations: Make all the classics like this, accessible and knowingly! But this is not just a great start for those who want to meet Shakespeare for the first time, but also a surprisingly strong interpre-tation for those who’ve been spending time with Hamlet for a long time.” Dagens Nyheter

Sometimes I'm Angry Calle Stenbäck

Sometimes I’m angry.Sometimes mom and dad get angry with me. Then they point, speak loudly and get a wrinkle between their eyebrows.

Sometimes I’m mad at my little sister, like when she takes my things. My things! You're mean! I say then.

Sometimes my little sister is mad at me, like when I take her things. My things! You're mean! she says then.

With naivistic illustrations and a direct appeal, the pro-tagonist explores a feeling that everyone can relate to. He shows the reader how to recognize if someone is angry, why people get angry, how it usually happens and what can make it feel better. The style is close to a child’s, both in text and illustration. A fun, handy book that also works well as a gift book for all ages.

Calle Stenbäck is a 36-year-old father, living outside Stock-holm. After working for many years as a professional danc-er, he is currently studying architecture, while also debuting as a children’s book author and illustrator.

Monster BestiaryBo Eriksson & Lina Blixt

From east to west, north to south, there are testimonies about horrible monsters. Seamonsters that devour sail-ors, monsters that are half-gods, and aliens that change shape to trick their victims. In an extensive, beautiful non-fi ction book, over fi fty monsters in nine habitats are presented, from the underground, through the woods and the jungle, to the mountains and cities. The reader will fi nd out what dangers lure here and how one can – or can’t – protect oneself.

It’s almost a miracle that you’ve survived for this long without being eaten by a monster!

i lykieN SoM ligger i nuvarande Turkiet plågades

kom i dess väg.

relativt ofarliga getkroppen blir man genast angripen

Chimaira.

We We’re Going to Sail Around the WorldAnna Sundström Lindmark & Elisabeth Widmark

In the future we we’re going to sail around the world. When we could afford it and I was a bit older. Some people say dad didn’t want to live. He got a disease. He couldn’t help it.

About 1,500 people take their own lives each year in Swe-den. It’s the number one reason of death among men aged 20-49. Some of them leave children behind, with grief and questions. Anna Sundström-Lindmark lost her father when she was 19-years old, and uses that experience to tell the story of Agnes, whose father also takes his life.

Straight-forward and unsentimental, this book tells the sto-ry of the close relationship of the protagonist and her dad. Days fi lled with opportunities and surprises, but also days of constant problems and fatigue. And then, the absence he leaves behind and the surrounding’s reactions. Time doesn’t heal all wounds, but you learn to live with them, and with time the bright days become more and more.

A graphic novel for 12+. A book for those who have lived through the same experience, or know someone who has.

Crow’s Incredible Hitchhiking VacationFrida Nilsson

This summer Crow and I went on a trip. It became an unforgettable adventure.

Ebba and Crow hitchhike through the country towards the Norwegian border, where Crow is going to look for his lost parents. They get help on the way: from a truckdriver who has a problem with his mouth, a French tourist, a band on tour called The Nilzonz, a certain Yvonne in high heels, and a few Norwegians. Of course, they don’t always hitchhike in the right direction!

This is author Frida Nilsson’s debut book, now revised with illustrations by Alexander Jansson. The search for identity and friendship are portrayed with lots of humor and great sincerity in this odyssey through the Swedish woods and countryside.

”Fort! In på glassbaren!” säger Joy.

JOHANN WOLFGANG VON GOETHE. Toppen.

This is me. Poppy. I’m the protagonist of this story. And my greatest wish is to have a boyfriend of my own. Just mine and no one else’s. I wish for that more than a puppy even. I’ve asked every boy in the class. But everyone has said no. So, all I need now is a bit of real magic. Yes, you read that right. Real magic exists, whether you believe it or not. But one shouldn’t dabble in black magic. Even the name implies that. But I still do in this story, despite warnings. And see what happens…

The Best Thing about Kerstin

Where the asphalt road ends and the gravel road be-gins, that’s where Kerstin lives. She is six years old and loves gold. 105 golden things are in a box underne-ath her bed. The nicest and most golden thing about Kerstin is her hair. It truly sparkles. Fatima says that Kerstin’s hair is orange, but it’s not true. The latest addition to Kerstin’s collection is a small ring that she fi nds on the fl oor at school. When her teacher Lottie asks if anyone has seen her wedding ring, not a peep comes out of Kerstin’s mouth. And then it’s too late.

"The Best Thing about Kerstin is Helena Hedlund’s debut and the fi rst part in a trilogy. She masters an un-common story telling that makes the reader experience Kerstin's emotional fl uctuations, a blend of joy, anxiety and shortcomings. Katarina Strömgård’s ink illustrations refl ect the characters’ feelings and the settings in an interesting way. A delightful book to read aloud! " Christina Wedenmark, BTJ

The Witch Knot seriesJohan Rundberg

Johan Rundberg’s well-written trilogy The Witch Knot is completed – a perfect combination of icy horror and smart humor.

In The Phantom’s Voice, Sebastian reluctantly travels with his actress mother to a run-down seaside hotel, for a film shoot. Seb expects a week of boredom in his mother’s shadow. But on the very first evening, strange things begin to happen. Someone – or something – seems to want to sabotage the shoot. There he becomes friends with child actor Mandy and Max, son of the star of the film, and soon they begin to unravel the mysteries of hotel Solöga. But lots of questions are still unanswered when it’s time to leave…

In the second book, The Emperor's Grave, Sebastian is still haunted by the memories from the summer at seaside hotel Solöga. He’s become afraid of the dark. But he is happy to hang out with Max and Mandy again. Mandy has gotten a part in an upcoming TV series that is being filmed at the The Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities. Under the museum there is a cavern, where a new exhibit is being built. But how is it that one of the heavy stone statues suddenly has moved, is Sebastian just imagining things? And who, or what, is attacking the museum attendants?

In the concluding part, The Shadow Island, Sebastian’s mom goes away to shoot a movie during Easter break, and Seb is secretly planning on staying by himself in the apartment with Max. Then they will have plenty of time to spend together with Mandy as well. Everything would be perfect, if it wasn’t for the terrifying dream that keeps waking Sebastian every night. He is starting to connect the dots of what has happened – the events of the last year are not random circumstances, but they all have to do with a secret society that is doing everything they can to hide their intentions...

”There are plenty of ghost stories in today’s chapter books, but the The Phantom’s Voice is unusually clever, with humor and intelligence and several surprising twists. And really, really scary!” DN

Tree HeartGabi Frödén

It’s the seventies when Anja steps into the classroom for the first time. She is radiant, according to Karin. It turns out that Anja lives on the same block, Karin can wave to her from her window. At Anja’s home, it’s strictly religious – at Karin’s home, it’s parent-free. Karin’s chain-smoking mother is a journalist and is all caught up saving the world. The only thing Karin has left after her absent father is a tree nymph book, and she draws trees everywhere, on her arms, on the walls. She doesn’t really know what she feels for Anja. Anja, who has scars on her forearms that feel like bark under Karin's fingertips. They plan to interrail in the summer, to escape from Anja’s father Risto’s nasty gaze and mother Marit’s constant surveillance. But the day after school ends, Anja has disappeared.

An unprecedented novel for young adults about friend-ship, religion, and the longing for love and approval. With a very unexpected ending!

Lea’s mother is going to die. Lea hates doctors who can’t give her mother the right medicine and she hates the tubes under her nose and her faint breathing.

And she hates Noa. Noa, who has been her best friend her entire life, but isn’t anymore.

In the midst of all the sorrow, life still goes on, with mom, dad and big brother Lucas. There are school days playing in the yard and football training with Pernilla Tattletale Olsson and there are dreams of snorkeling in the South Sea. All while mom gets sicker.

With warmth, humor and a straightforward language, Moni Nils-son manages to depict the biggest sorrow in a very gripping way, leaving the reader with hope for the future and a great love for life.

Biscuit is twelve years and four months old. One day her dad moves into a house a few blocks away and Biscuit and her brother become children with divorced parents. But Biscuit discovers after a while that it’s not so bad. It’s actually quite nice every now and then. To sort out her emotions and thoughts, Biscuit likes to make lists. Because even though she’s best friends with Gordon (the most awesome person ever!), and has a lo-ving – albeit quirky family – life can be quite complicated. Biscuit faces life head on, with tenacity and outspokenness, and always with a great sense of humor.

The books about Biscuit and Gordon are charming and refreshingly honest, simply a must read for every typical atypical teenager.
