Today, it’s getting harder and harder to find service companies who deliver what they promise. Good customer service and making sure the job is completed to the absolute sat-isfaction of the customer is rare. But, for the past 20 years, Richard Cavazos has built his business on the motto, do whatever it takes to satisfy his customers.

Richard and his wife Andrea, own and operate Pride Floors and Construction. Started in 2007, Richard had already spent 13 years working in the flooring industry, improving his skills with installs, sales and most importantly, customer service, when he decided to go out on his own. “We do not pride ourselves on being the cheapest in town,” explains Cavazos. “Cheapest is not always best. Giving our customer a good competitive price without sacrificing quality and service is what we strive for. Flooring is an investment. Making sure it’s done right and having someone they can trust is more important to my customers.”

When the company was in its infancy, retail

business was slowing to a halt because of the economy, so Cavazos went seeking flooring jobs in the government sector and small jobs led to larger contracts. When other flooring companies were going under, Pride Floors was flourishing. In 2010, the three-year old company nearly doubled their sales, most of which was coming from federal contracts. These were tough clients who demanded great customer service and Pride Floors delivered. They learned how to operate at a higher standard and exceed customer expec-

tations.

Pride Floors and Construc-tion sells and installs all types of commercial and residential flooring including wood, tile, and carpet. However, they specialize in hardwood floors and see more of their customers today asking to change out carpet and tile in favor of wide planked, hand scraped floors in their homes. “We’ve seen a big increase in demand due to more affordable options. ” states Richard.

Pride Floors is a subcontractor for many home builders. One such company is Robert Weiss Enterprises, a high-end custom

builder who builds homes in the two to seven million dollar price range. “I enjoy working with Richard and Pride Floors. He does what he says he’s going to do,” says Robert Weiss, owner. Andrea Benavides is a homeowner, who on multiple occasions, has hired Pride Floors and Construction to install floors in her home. “I trust their guys explicitly. Wood floors can be very tricky and installing them to the homeowners complete satisfaction is critical. “I pay my guys well, so that they do a great job for the customer.” says Cavazos.

We talk a lot about how to avoid oak pollen allergens, but it is nearly impossible to never be exposed. Most allergists will advise showering and washing away oak and other pollens or animal dander, for example, from the skin and hair after exposure. This is helpful. My favorite tip is to actually wash away allergens that are sitting on the inside surface of the nose. While saline (salt water) nasal spray will loosen and dilute these allergens, a larger amount of the salt water is necessary to wash the allergens away. This can be accomplished with a nasal rinse kit. These can be found on the shelves of most grocery stores and pharmacies. They don’t require a prescription, but you should be aware that the recommendation is to use a sterile water source (such as distilled water or previously boiled tap water) to avoid the risk of odd infections.
