Utilities Undergrounding Program: E-News #2RIDGe MANOR/ PATRICK HENRY HIGH - Project Block June 2012

CORRECTION NOTICESCurrently, there are 17 residences in the Ridge Manor por tion of the Ridge Manor/Patrick Henry High Project Block that need to make corrections to their services or proper ties. Most of these corrections will be minor and are the respon-sibility of the property owner. Corrections need to be complete

before we can cut customers over to the new underground systemCustomers who are not cut-over to the new undergroundsystem risk loss of service when the overhead system isremoved.

If you need to make a correction to your property in order to passfinal inspection, you will receive a door hanger or letter from a Cityof San Diego inspector. The door hanger and letter have a description of the correction needed. Most of these corrections are minorPlease do not delay in contacting the inspector whose name andphone number appear on these notices, so that the problem canbe resolved.

We thank you in advance for your patience and support whilewe complete the Utilities Undergrounding Program project in theRidge Manor community.

PANEL AND TRENCHING ACTIVITIESPanel work by Southern Contracting is well underway. Panel workis when electricians prepare the electrical panel at your home toreceive underground service. Approximately two weeks prior to anywork being performed on your property, you should receive a doorhanger with the electrical contractor’s name and phone number on

it. If you have any questions or concerns about the work, please donot hesitate to contact the electrical contractor. To date, approxi-mately 95% of the paneling work has been completed in theRidge Manor portion of the Project Block. Approximately20% of the paneling work has been completed in the PatrickHenry High potion of the Project Block.

Y ou have likely seen the trenching work in the streets. To date, ourcontractor is approximately 80% completed with the trenchwork in the Ridge Manor portion of the Project Block.  We askfor your patience as they complete this work, as it can be disruptiveand distracting. Approximately two weeks prior to the start of thetrench work on your property and in the street, you will receive a

door hanger with the trenching contractor’s name and phone num-ber on it. If you have any questions or concerns about the work, please do not hesitate to contact the contractor.

CABLING AND CUT-OVER ACTIVITIES

After all trenching operations have been completed by our contrac-tor, the cabling portion of the work will begin. Another contractorwill perform the cabling work. Cabling involves technicians placingnew utility lines in the new conduits, so that the new lines can be“energized” and brought into service. Once the new system hasbeen energized, the process to “cut-over” customers from overheadto underground services will begin. We anticipate this process willmove very swiftly and it’s not nearly as disruptive or distracting asthe trenching work, which is why you may not even see us working.

Recently installed underground conduit lines and panel work.
