End of year Rally

The Fancy Dress was again a very special event for costume mak-ers and creative ideas. This event gives riders and spec-tators a lot of fun. Congratulations to sectional winners.

Our champion costume went to Este Christensen and her pony “ A Devil on an Angel” with each appro-priately dressed. Does this tell us something about the pair.?? The simplicity and imagination of some of the cos-

tumes eg. ‘For Sale –the perfect Childs pony’and the attendance of Royalty with Corgi on the lead as well as child on the pony, was matched against the sewing marathon of the Harvey girls( Wendy) to cover them-selves and their horses.

Thank you to Jenni Waldhauser for judging this section.

See Club web site for more photos.

January Camp 11th –12th January.

Thank you to Judy Climas for organizing this.

SPECIAL REPORTS

Well another fantastic Camp held at Moriac near Tor-quay. Held in January, it was well attended by around 45 Club members . Weather was perfect for all activities. Trail riding in the mornings, arena and lessons with Gill if wanted, plenty of swimming in the dam with or without horses

The kids had a great time making new friends. We had new members mixed with our old ones.

We have been going to this camp since 2002, and it was decided that the members want to do it again in 2015.We have booked the same weekend for next year,

so put it on your calendar now. Plenty to do for the parents as well, a nice day at the beach, cafes and to finish the day a wine and a chat by the camp fire –BLISS.

OUT AND ABOUT A member perspective— On Friday the 10th January 2014 a

group of 21 riders and 24 parents/grandparents floated horses and camping gear down to Whinbury Hill in Moriac for the annual Pony Club Camp. Throughout Friday as more peo-ple arrived some people left to go down to the beach without horses and cool down. That night people went for rides up to the arena. On Saturday morning more people arrived and everyone tacked up their horses and we met Gill (owner of Whinbury Hill) to go on a trial ride. There were a few surprises, riders on Gill’s horses Tina Cowley, Nicole Martin and Wendy Lovel. We split up into three groups. One group walkers, then another group trot-

ting and cantering on a big ride and the self titled “sookylala” group which went to the arena. Wendy was the trail ride boss for the walkers. Sadly Tina’s horse went sore with the stony track and she had to walk home on foot. For the afternoon, lots of kids enjoyed swimming in the dam with their horses and each other. Sat-urday evening some people went out riding again. Half the group went to the hotel and the others cooked at camp. After dinner we all decided to cancel going to the beach with the horses. Some of the reasons were it was going to be high tide, lots of surfers and there wasn’t very much parking. So instead we organised with Gill to go on another trail ride this time as a whole group. This was a lot of

fun, when we got back people started packing up to leave but a few people decided to stay Sunday night. Mon-day, we rode again after the downing chocolate and buttermilk pancakes, then went to the beach again. The camp was great fun and I hope everyone enjoyed it. Clare Lovel

ZONE CHAMPIONSHIPS in Dressage—Eleven of our members took part in this competition which was held at Kyne-ton on Dec. 15th .There were classes for all levels . The Grs 1, 2, 3.were selection trials for the State Champs. Our Gr. 5 riders were Clare Lovel, Annalese Scott and Kloe Soper. It was great to see Kloe, one of our younger riders competing. Clare was having her first competition on her new pony Toby, and won both of her tests. Bridget Mouat was our only entry in Gr.4 and was a very credible 8th. Gr 3 was a large field of competitors, and Trinity McLean- Ingelton., Harry Luxmoore, Lizzy Brand and Abbey Martin were our representatives. Abbey came second and secured her place in the Zone team for the Champs. Lizzy was just out side the selection list for the Champs. Hayley Marciniak and Isabelle Luxmoore were suc-cessful in Gr.2 and will represent the Zone at the State Champs. Our rider in Gr. 1 was Genevieve Brand and she was placed second and will be part of the Zone team. The State champs are on the weekend of our March rally at Bendigo. Good Luck to our four representatives.

Showjumping and Dressage Clinic with Jamie Murray and Justine Greer—Four of our riders took advantage of this Clinic with instructors Jamie and Justine. The Clinic was organized by Central Zone. Zone is aiming to organize more clin-ics this year, so keep your ears and eyes open for future opportunities. Our riders who attended were Isabelle Cowley, Bridget Mouat, Maggie Feltoe and Libby Feltoe. Clare Lovel was really looking forward to this clinic, but unfortunately Clare’s pony Toby had a Colic attack the night before the clinic and they were unable to attend. Toby has fully recovered

and he and Clare are looking forward to a busy year at Pony Club.

Summer Royal Werribee Park—Hayley Marciniak competed at this event in the Pony Club ring and was CHAMPION Senior Rider. She was also placed in the Handler and the Special Event. Congratulations Hayley.

Boneo Park Dressage—Isabelle Luxmoore rode Kyra in the Gr.2 Pony Club sec-tion and was Champion. She also rode B.B a long time member of the club and was placed 5th in the same section. Congratulations Isabelle. Chloe Ritchie also com-peted on “Syd”.

Ballarat Pony Club Show—Harry Luxmoore competed in the S.J. events at this show and was placed in several 60cm classes. Genevieve Brand also traveled to this competition and was Champion rider 13—25 yrs. Well done both riders.

Kingston Show—Kayla Young competed on “Sushi” and won all of her classes in the Pony Club ring. What a day Kayla!!!! Congratulations.

Woodend Pony Club Show—Lizzy and Genevieve Brand had a very good day at this event. Lizzy won Champion Galloway and Genevieve was Champion rider Kayla Young also competed at this event, and was Reserve champion handler ,Under 15 yrs. Chloe Soper also competed .
